This bar provides true to form tiki drinks. Too bad this time fun was short lived, since right after getting our Mai tai’s, we were asked to leave. Simply because two friends that came later were not allowed in, we(sitting down inside) were told to go and forfeit our drinks. Great drinks, over zealous«security». Especially for a «tiki bar».

More expensive than Stureplan, more packed than Cliff Barnes, louder than the worst 18+ club. At least they have free coat checks. I have wanted to check this place out for awhile but I cannot really ever imagine recommending this place except if you are out with a group of 4+ friends and you explicitly want to get as wasted as possible drinking from a group bowl of alcohol. In that case, great! They have a 1300kr «treasure chest», a standard group drink for 500kr, and giant straw that stretches 2 – 3 meters so you can high-five each other when you get someone 2 tables away to drink from your giant tub of alcohol. Which can be kind of cool, no sarcasm, if that’s the sort of night you want to have. Otherwise, I asked for the«classic» drink they make, which if I heard him right, was a white tai, and it was what I would call below average for 155kr(and tipping here is heavily suggested, by them). I tried my friends drink, something sour, and it was also average, if that. We got to stand around(absolutely no space) and shout in each others ear for one drink before getting the heck out of there. This place is kind of cool in that it feels unique. And the loud, overly in your face environment is probably what they are going for. If you don’t visit on a Friday night it’s probably a bit more relaxed(which is more how I think of a tiki bar), but hey Friday night is the image a bar wants to sell itself with I suppose. If you want the night I described in the first paragraph, perfect. For a drink or two to hang out with a friend and enjoy a different sort of atmosphere? Not this place. At least not on Friday night. Or not for me.

After dinner in Kungsholmen, my boyfriend, a couple of friends and I decided to go for drinks. A quick Unilocal search led us to Tiki Room, which I had bookmarked(but don’t remember doing it, ha!). It wasn’t too far of a walk, so we decided to go for it. All I had to do was look at the pictures to immediately say«YES!». I am such a sucker for pretty cocktails. We arrived and couldn’t find the place, aside from a tiny sign outside, below the sign for the restaurant upstairs. A waiter helped us find our destination, and we descended some steep, spirally stairs. Sure enough, just as the other reviews mentioned, it really is a proper tiki bar! The atmosphere alone was enough to make me giddy(keep your eyes peeled for the REAL blowfish skin lamps at the bar. Sooo cool). Of course, you can’t go to a tiki bar without a few drinks. All four of us had at least two drinks, and we taste-tested them all. A couple did taste a bit TOO sweet or like they were made with powder. My favorite was the Coconaut, which was not only tasty but also came inside a coconut shell. Yum. You might be wondering after reading all this why exactly I’m only giving 3 stars. Unfortunately(fortunately?), when I want drinks I want to feel the alcohol. I didn’t feel like these drinks were strong enough, especially when the prices are so high. For one or two pretty drinks before a night out, this might be a good place to go. However, if you want to spend a lot of time here, you better a) have a lot of disposable income, and b) not want to feel buzzed by the end of the night. I still don’t know how I gave up my card to pay for a 389 kr volcano drink for«2 – 3 people», but really just suitable for 2. Even if they do set it on fire, is it worth it? Then again, maybe there *IS* something magical in those drinks.

Perfect for grabbing a cocktail or two in a unique exotic venue. Doesnt seem to be anything special until you walk downstairs and enter the tropical paradise with all accessories needed. It feels like entering surfshack with a laidback atmosphere. They have a funny menu with all different kind of cocktails and i would recommend sharing a volcano with a friend or two. This is the place to spice up your regular evening and a fun stop to hang out for a drink. Its not cheap, but this is not the right place if you want the quantity. Can be hard to get a seating so be there early or prepare to stand up. Go here and I bet you have never seen anything like this before, definitely not in Stockholm.

With a name like«Tiki Room», it’s hard to know what kind of place you’re walking into. If we weren’t abroad, my friends and I would not have gone out of our way to check this place out. But fortunately, the novelty of going to a tiki bar called«Tiki Room» in Sweden was too great to resist. After walking in and letting the host know we were there for drinks, she directed us to the basement where it was fully decked out as a proper tiki bar should be. We got to chat with the bartender for a while who was really excited to hear about tiki places we had been to on the west coast. The scorpion bowl we had tasted like it was from a mix, but the alcohol content made up for that. Would have loved to go back to try some more and pick up another tiki mug(I bought one separately since it didn’t come with a drink.) But there’s always next time…

We were 6 people, and we all had different drinks at least two rounds. Not a single one of the drinks we tried was bad! And also; the volcano drink! So glad we found it after experiencing it in San Francisco many times! The bartenders are funny and the prices are ok. The bar itself is very tiki :)
