Verdict: Of course Yes. Pros: — The view especially at the balcony. — The view especially at the balcony. — Service. Accommodating, friendly and smiling staff! — Price. — free refill on sodas! — Simple but yet very decent food. Cons: — Unless you drink plain coffee you are out of luck! Latte or Cappuccino must be purchased and brought to the restaurant from a coffee shop on the other end of the museum building. — Could benefit from a bigger beer/wine selection.

MoMuMat is a decent alternative for a week-end brunch. The food will make you happy and the views are great and have a nice private feeling to them. The bad news is that the personnel makes you feel a bit rushed. They will remind you that you session time is limited and that you only have your table for X more minutes before the next guests come. In all, you have 90 minutes to enjoy the goodies, which is about 30 min too little. Also, it is borderline overpriced and table reservation is recommended.

I spent half my time in Stockholm hungry. Everything was so expensive, and all the food I could afford was really mediocre in quality. Finally, I decided to visit the Moderna Museet(which, as an aside, is really excellent and gives a hefty student discount). I poked my head into the restaurant, and decided to give it a whirl. I’m glad I did! I had the 150 kr. fish lunch(~$ 23), and it was a great value for Stockholm. It came with a salad and bread. The salad was a standard spring mix, with a lot of frisee. The bread options were numerous, and I ended up with the crunchy flatbread(a better version of the kind you can get at Ikea). The fish itself was some sort of salmon analogue, and was very well-prepared. It had a light buttery sauce, but it seemed really light. Not heavy at all. It had pureed vegetables underneath, and some sort of balsamic sauce. It came with a side of warm pickled potatoes, which were excellent(I know the description sounds odd). This was truly the only decent meal I had in Stockholm, because everything else was just sooooooo expensive. Definitely check this one out, and definitely check out the museum itself as well.

This is the restaurant inside the Museum of Modern Art(Moderna Museet), not the little café next door, nor the expresso bar across from the cashier in the main hall. It is big and airy inside, with very large glass windows and a terrace offering an impressive view of the waterfront. Some say, one of the best views of Stockholm, and they might be right. As far as food is concerned, I think you would do well to stick to the basics: ham-and-cheese sandwich, herring and potato salad, or hot smoked arctic char with potatoes. When you stray too far(e.g. vegetarian gnocchi with pan fried halumi and roasted red peppers), it really does not pay off(boring, greasy and the halumi was so salty, it was inedible). Still a good place to have an inexpensive lunch if you are on this island. Apparently, this is a very popular spot to have a week-end brunch(need to book ahead) but we haven’t tried. Of course, just like the rest of the museum, they are closed on Monday.
