Wonderful beet soup. Decent pierogis, including a novel duck confit. Good meringue for dessert. Excellent service. Nice atmosphere. A horrible cloudy Croatian wine. Do not think I will give the Croats another chance to fill my wine glass with swill. Marred an otherwise perfect, if typically overpriced Stockholm meal.

Cosy, rustic and really tasty food summarise my experience of this restaurant. Mormors kök means Grandma´s kitchen in swedish and the name is totally appropriate based both on the décor and the no nonsense kind of food that is served. There are embroided cloths on the tables and on some of the lamps, generously draped curtains in the windows, bathroom and between the adjoining rooms. I love the worn and beautiful floor that makes me think of a tavern from another century. I tried a mix of the duck and sourkraut/mushroom pierogi –YES you can choose half portions, giving you the chance to try several types at once– served with smetana and a creamy salad with mustardseeds. The flavors were really good and the six pierogis was enough for me however if you are really hungry I would share a portion of the traditional polish pierogis and choose a main. The duck that had been cooked over night was served with vegetables and a fig sauce and it was great! I wanted to try the mead but found it to sweet for the food –it´s surely perfect for dessert though– so instead I had a beer with an aftertaste of honey, splendid! For dessert we tried the meringue with raspberry sauce and a sorbet and it was sweet, perfectly sticky and refreshing after the heavy but gorgeous meal. This is a genuine and memorable restaurant that I will revisit!
