There are not so much shops in the city where you can buy yarn and accessories for knitting and crochet, so this one is nearly the only one that Google could find for you. They have two more in Farsta and Vällingby. And all of them look like old ladies knitting club. There are always some ladies there that enjoying their free times by knitting some new giant sweater or pair of Christmas socks. The place you may always visit and never feel alone :) Ladies in the store are helpful for beginner knitters with choice of everything. So customer service is in order. But I still try to squeeze my visit there in 10 minutes not to be reminded about what I will be doing in some 30 years :)

I come to Ljungqvist Garn because it’s the closest to where I live that has regular store hours and an ample stock of yarn. Though, I come to Ljungqvist as a second choice and for yarn/supply emergencies(I prefer a yarn store in Uppsala). Ljungqvist carries many different colors and brands. Great selection of linen and lots of medium/DK wool to choose from. They seem to stock the same brands and types of yarns as other stores I’ve been to. Yarns are well-priced, ranging from affordable 45kr 100% wool to more pricey ~180kr skeins of silk/baby alpaca. One of my top reasons for sticking to a yarn store is the staff. Reason: If staff aren’t helpful, why go to a store when you could buy yarn and supplies much cheaper online? I’m personally not completely comfortable when I visit Ljungqvist Garn. Staff are friendly and nice enough, but not necessarily approachable. My experience has been that staff usually like to hang around/look busy behind the register or help older customers. To be fair, when you do ask for help, they direct you to what you’re looking for. They also offer to call the other store if they don’t have something in stock. You can then pick it up the next day or later in the week. All in all, good place to get yarn and supplies. If you’re a beginner knitter, you may feel slightly lost, but don’t let the lack of enthusiasm from staff keep you from your new project!
