Why oh why do I keep on coming back to this subpar shop? Because it is subpar. It doesn’t feel well-organized at all, and it doesn’t even always feel clean. The service is so-so at best, with cashiers and other employees who shuffle about, never are in a hurry to help customers, and shout things back and forth at each other. Sometimes I’ve even seen cashiers get up and leave the cash register to go check a price instead of having a colleague do it — which is a big no-no, from my own experience working at stores. Well, the bread section is a big, BIG part of why I keep coming back. Want a fika or just some fresh bread for a morning sandwich? Lidl has the same types of bread as Coop and Ica — but half the price(or less). Here a cinnamon bun will cost you 5 kr instead of 15 — and frequently they have deals where you get 3 buns for 10kr. And oh me oh my, the pain au chocolat. 5kr for a delicious chocolate-filled flakey French pastry? It’s irresistible! So in the morning as I walk past I found myself heading in, grabbing a pastry, a bottle of orange juice, and a banana — and only paying 20kr. The people who shop at Lidl do so because they have good deals. That’s about it. But they do indeed have good deals! A lot of their products are off-brands or labels you’ve never heard of, but they also carry«normal» brands at huge discounts. It’s definitely worth a look, even for their fresh and frozen items. I would recommend shopping in the morning though, at least at this location. I made the mistake of shopping at 2pm once, and stood for 15 minutes in a clump of 50 shoppers trying to figure out why they wouldn’t just open a third cash register. It’s absolute chaos. Really, this place would be 2 stars — but the bread section with affordable delicious pastries brings it up to 3. Stop by on the way to work and grab a pastry and juice, you won’t regret it!
