I was first super excited to find this place around the corner of me. I own a cacao plantation in Hawaii and always have high spirited conversations with any chocolate interested professionals. Sadly, I must say the owner of this shop does not seem like a very happy person. I always felt sad for her when I came into the store. I wanted to make contact but it seemed something was always burdening her. Conversation very hard going. After a while I went there, introducing several of my friends with the feeling of wanting to support her. I don’t know her story but… something is not making her happy. In any business it is the people behind it who makes it what it is. And this combo of happy, dopamine inducing Chocolate industry needs to match with a positive and happy personality. I know from everyone in the business that there is a subtle expectation from everyone buying chocolate that the professionals representing it reflect what research has said about the product. It makes you feel as if you are in love! The seller, producers, connoisseurs needs to have that feel to them to inspire people that their product is something good. And I mean… obviously an authentic passion, not induced. The store is now being closed down. from today it is no more. I wish the owner the very best… and especially to find a way that really makes her happy. Aloha from Hawaii!
