Koh Phangan

Amazingly ridiculous décor that catches your attention wherever you look. Fantastic dishes that are reasonably priced. Good service and great selection. Gluten free dishes available.

I’ve never been to Thailand myself so I can’t judge on the authenticity of the food there, however I have had way tastier and yummier Pad Thai Pak in my life. I felt that the one I got here was very oily and didn’t taste much.
Also, the mug we got for our tea was just not even close to being clean. There was stained dropped all over the outside part.
My mother specifically chose a dish that was labelled as «Not hot» and still found many pieces of chill in her plate and had difficulties eating it — or at least, no pleasure.
Would not go again.

On a Tuesday evening, the wait was 40 minutes. We debated whether or not to wait and we were glad that we did. On the recommendation of our server, we ordered the mixed grilled seafood platter and the duck dish which were both very good. We also ordered the obligatory pad thai which was incredible. Washed it down with 2 Singha beers.
We had 3 young children with us and this place is super kid friendly. You can tell by the number of strollers parked out front.
I wouldn’t say this is the best Thai I’ve ever had, but for Stockholm and after 2 Italian dinners and 2 cold traditional Swedish lunches this week, Thai cuisine hit the spot!

This is The place if you want to eat really good thai food in Stockholm. The Pat Thai Koong is delicious.

Friendly staff, excellent Thai food and amazing décor — really fun place. Even a good value … in Sodermalm. You can’t get much better than that!

I really enjoy this place. The atmosphere in the restaurant seems authentic to me — never actually been in Thailand, but the restaurant at least succeeded in giving me the «koh phangan» feel.
The service was very pleasant. The food was delicious. We ordered 4 different plates and all were very satisfied.
There is a bit of a queue coming here, which can be a drag. But as long as you know and keep busy at the bar, it’s not a big issue.

A Stockholmer friend steered me towards xxx. We had to wait a while for a table, but totally worth it. Ok the food here is excellent, the service is pleasant but what really stands out is that they’ve gone to incredible lengths to recreate a Thai beach bar in a modern building in Stockholm. Features include a water course, complete with bridge, a table made out of a tuk-​tuk, lots of exciting canopies made out of leaves and an interesting multilayered construction. Food itself was authentic to my palette, and fairly reasonably priced given we’re still in Stockholm.

Outside Thailand, this is probably the best thai food I ever got. Great food, the staff has an amazing attitude. The ambience is really good. I would also emphasize the guests here. Truly friendly and outstanding place. Thumbs up! :)

Wow! Wicked good thai food, great atmosphere and cool decorations. This place is perfect for dinner and drinks with friends. Gets crowded so arrive early, get on the list and enjoy the bar while you wait. Perfect place for Low Carb, SCD, 4HB dieters.

Nach einem langen ersten Stockholm wollten wir den Abend entspannt ausklingen lassen. Da die Pet Sounds Bar gegenüber zu voll war, haben wir es hier im Koh Phangan probiert. Vorbei am Türsteher und drinnen waren wir in einer verwinkelten, relativ weitläufigen Bar bzw. Restaurant, die versucht einen tropischen Eindruck zu erwecken. Mit unmengen von Lichterketten und Pflanzen versucht man hier Dschungelatmosphäre zu erzeugen. Auf mich hatte es eine etwas beklemmende Wirkung. Die Essensgerüche aus dem Restaurantbereich waren ziemlich stark auch im Barbereich zu riechen, das fand ich etwas unangenehm.
Die Musik in der Bar war ok, man musste sich nicht übermäßig anschreien. Das Carlsberg lightbeer schmeckte nicht sonderlich gut, aber dafür kann das Koh Phangan wohl nichts, außer dass sie auf anderes Bier umsteigen sollten.
Gegen 1 Uhr nachts räumte das Personal die Tische ab und die Bar leerte sich bemerkbar. Irgendwann holten auch wir unsere Mäntel von der Garderobe (fand ich cool für eine Bar) und wankten zurück ins Hostel.

This is definitly my favourite place for thai food in Stockholm. Generous servings, crazy interior and a really good atmoshere. For a healthy pick, try the grilled salmon.

Thai equivalent of the tiki bar theme – very kitschy. Seems to be a lot of people who are recalling their Thai vacations, perhaps more emphasis on the alcohol than food. Better Thai than I’ve had thus far elsewhere in Stockholm, but nothing amazing and certainly nothing like one can find in Thailand or Singapore.

Decent Thai food, but it s expensive. You sit in little straw huts with palm trees around. Feels like a theme park.

Koh Phangan is actually some of the best Thai food I have ever had. I am by no means a Thai food connoisseur, so my experience is limited, but I have eaten enough to know the difference between the Thai food I ate in San Francisco, and the Thai food at Koh Phangan. It’s only now that I realize how San Francisco thai food truly pales in comparison. In retrospect, SF’s Thai scene is made up of bland, uninspiring cuisine.
Koh Phangan inspires on many levels. The food was really excellent. The Penang Neu, the Chicken Satay, and the Pad Thai, all very standard Thai dishes were all better than I’ve previously had. They were extremely flavorful and extremely spicy, so if you don’t like spicy food, buyer beware.
The ambiance is fun. It’s a bit tacky and overdone for my taste, especially when the lights went out and there was a thunder and lightning display, but the quality of the cuisine is enough for me to sit through it and enjoy the atmosphere. Plusthe urinals are metal buckets. That was pretty funny.

Very good thai food and excellent value lunch specials.
Restaurant is decorated in that kitchy funny thai style, (you know, christmas lights here and there, pictures of royalties etc.) so you really feel like you’d be sitting in some restaurant in Koh Samui — or Koh Phangan.
And what is most important thing in thai restaurants, food is spicy. After hard drinking night out in cruise ship from Helsinki, Koh Phangan’s lunch here really made me feel alive again.

Das Koh Phangan will gesucht werden und liegt etwas versteckt.
Bereits am Eingangsbereich wird klar, dass man hier anders speist, lebt und erlebt, als man das ansonsten von Restaurants gewöhnt ist.
Das Koh Phangan ist ein besonderes Erlebnis, die Deko ist aufwendig und im Djungelstil gehalten. Entsprechender Sound und Lichteffekte runden das ganze wundervoll und spannend ab.
Mittags bietet das Koh Phangan günstige Mittagsmenüs ab, die typisch schwedisch, an der Theke geordert werden müssen. Die Menüs sind ausgezeichnet und asiatisch, tropisch angehaucht.
Am Abend bedient man sich der umfangreicheren Karte, die dann ebenfalls — typisch schwedisch — durchaus auch etwas höhere Preise in Rechnung stellt.
Das Essen ist lecker, die Atmosphäre einzigartig und besonders, insgesamt somit eine absolut empfehlenswerte Abwechslung zum ansonsten gebotenen!
