Courtyard Stockholm Kungsholmen

We absolutely loved this marriot! It may be the nicest one we’ve been to. The location and breakfast alone was a hit with us– and we stayed for a week. Our room was nice and overlooked the park. The park is great! It’s clean and from the hotel is so convenient to walk over and sit by the water or grass, play bocci ball, volleyball, jog, etc.
There seems to be a lot of thought put into the many «hang out» areas in common areas. Outside we loved lounging on one of the sofas and having a drink or coffee in the AM.
We enjoyed great service from all the staff we encountered. A couple of people stood out in their cheerfulness/​helpfulness. Our regular dining room hostess (tall, dark hair) was consistently pleasant each morning, and one male desk clerk (Santuu?) who was cheerful and helpful when we had questions about our bill. When we return to Stockholm, we will definitely stay at the Courtyard Marriot.
We did have one suggestion for the hotel– please update your treadmills:)

— Sleek, stylish, Scandinavian in-​room design (form & function)
— Comfy, firm mattresses
— Healthy, delicious, massive breakfast with lots of great options
— Sexy bar/​lounge with awesome electronica music (e.g., London Grammar «Hey Now (Sasha remix)», Nora En Pure «Come With Me»)
— Polite, courteous, professional, helpful service with a smile

I am a very loyal Marriott guest and like this hotel but decided to interrupt my stay and move to another hotel. This is because of a very very bad experience with the service I received in the bar. After waiting in line a long time to get a glass of wine and a beer for my friend I in a professional way mentioned to the female bartender that the service was not good. She immediately argued back and took back my order refusing serving me. I of course reported this to the helpful receptionist in hotel who joined me to talk with the female bartender who was still hostile to me, asked my name and my occupation!!! etc. people with such a bad customer service attitude are not representative to work for Marriott and management should do something about it. I will continue to stay at Marriott but NEVER more at this hotel for my and my employees future visits to Stockholm.

Rooms are what to be expected for a Marriott product. You can not beat the location with its proximity to the parks, downtown and historic spots.
Stay away from their bicycles though. It might have been the one I ended up with but I would have been better off pushing it.

Excellent hotel with friendly and helpful staff, but a bit outside walkable downtown areas. Good for business travel.

Very comfortable stay! Rooms (and bathrooms) are spacious, impeccably clean, and very quiet. And reasonably priced for Stockholm.
We arrived at 7 am and had no trouble storing our luggage until our requested room was available. Our friends were able to check in immediately (a full 8 hrs before the usual 3 pm check-​in… AWESOME).
Taxis are reliable (and recommended for brief stays): Fare is approx 180 – 210 SEK to the city center. At least 1 – 2 taxis were always queued and waiting by the hotel entrance. For longer stays, I’d make use of the metro (nearby stop: Thorildsplan).
My one complaint: The free wi-​fi is *Slow* and functional at best. I could send text-​based e-​mails, but sending/​receiving files was a Fail. (I couldn’t upload a small photo, only 75K in size.)

As an American traveler who spends a lot of time in Europe, you never know if a hotel experience is going to be a good one or a bad one. Well, the Courtyard by Marriott in Stockholm is a very good one. European Marriott Courtyards are often a step-​above their US counterparts. Overall, the rooms are built to the American business travel standard, and the room was large, clean and functional. There is a small refrigerator, so you can stow some food items. Many people don’t know that just behind the hotel is a Shell gas station with a 7 – 11 inside. A good place to pick up some snack items for your room. The room also has a digital safe, which is a nice feature.
The in-​room coffee is instant coffee by Nescafe. It’s terrible. But, you can get free coffee (and take away cups) at the free buffet (if that applies to you). Also, there is a 24 hour self-​serve market in the lobby that serves Nespresso for a fee.
The hotel also features the BJORK BAR and GRILL. So, you have a full service restaurant and bar in the hotel, which is not often the case in US Courtyard hotels. Prices for food and drinks can be a shocker in Stockholm, so be ready for it! But, it’s a fine place to eat and have drinks. Many room rate plans of the Courtyard have breakfast included, and that will be served in the BJORK restaurant. It’s a pretty decent breakfast.
WiFi for guests is free, however, when you logon to the WiFi you can pay for a higher-​speed WiFi. That costs about $ 23/​day. The free WiFi is fast enough for most purposes, however. Note that the hotel limits you to two WiFi devices per room. If you have more than two devices, you can pay extra. But, be careful when logging into the WiFi, as you may accidentally order the paid WiFi plan when you intended to order the free WiFi.
The hotel is located about a 30 minute walk (along the river) from the city center. This was fine for us, as we wanted to get some walking done. It really is a nice walk, and there are plenty of cafes along the river walk. But, there is a metro station nearby, and cabs are everywhere. If you are a cruise ship passenger, the cruise ships dock very nearby, just next to the Royal Palace.

If you’re familiar with Courtyard by Marriott hotels, you won’t be disappointed or surprised by this one. The rooms are spacious and bright, and feature free wireless Internet (for an American, anything free in Stockholm is a rare and splendid find).
The staff at this hotel is simply wonderful. I have never before come across such helpful and considerate hotel employees. We spoke to several front desk staff who went out of their way to make sure we had directions to wherever we were going, and advice about what to do/​see when we got there. When we could not print our tickets to the Ice Bar (a horrible waste of money — see my review) in the business center, the front desk staff did so for us. We greatly appreciated their assistance.
Getting to the hotel was a bit of a challenge, however. Like Kristin A., we too took the metro to Fridhemsplan, but finding the Courtyard from there was nearly impossible. Two very helpful local residents attempted to guide us, but after nearly a half-​hour, we still had not found the hotel (and at that point, rather wished we had taken a taxi). If you find yourself in a similar situation, walk toward the highway interchange (E20, E240) down Drottningholmsvägen until you reach the rear of the Courtyard Hotel. From there, you will have to carry your suitcase down a flight of concrete stairs, which will put you outside the hotel lobby.

The short of it:
— decent location, walking distance to subway station
— restaurant/​bar in lobby
— buffet breakfast for extra charge for guests
— free wi-​fi, gym
— nice rooms, not much of a view
The long of it:
I was pleasantly surprised with this Mariott hotel in Stockholm. Its a few blocks down from the nearest subway station, but for some reason we had trouble finding it on the first day. The lobby is nice and right next to it they have the Bjork bar/​restaurant. The rooms here were pretty standard, although when we checked in our rooms were not cleaned yet so that was a bit of a dissapointment; entering a room that was messy and had a banana peel on the counter… yuck. However, they apologized and gave us plenty of free bottles of water. Bottled water is like gold in Europe, its so expensive and you can’t ever get free water at restaurants. In Sweden one regular sized bottle of water was around $ 6. Ridiculous! One cool thing about the bathroom was that the bathroom floor tiles were heated! Pretty awesome! I guess you need that in cold countries like Sweden. One of my fav parts about this hotel was the buffet breakfast. It was very reasonable priced and there was a lot of good food. They had sausages, bacon, eggs (scrambled and hard-​boiled), swedish pancakes, cold cuts, cheeses, pastries, fruit, breads, veggies, yogurt bar, etc. There were so many things to choose from! It was crazy and I liked that they had some Swedish foods I’d never find in the US like caviar in a tube just like toothpaste hahaha.

ein sehr angenehmes Hotel. etwas sehr weit Weg vom Hauptbahnhof. man kann aber gut laufen oder U-​Bahn fahren. An der Bar gab es heute kein Lager mehr. Nüsse waren auch aus. das Essen ist jedoch sehr gut. Bier ist zu teuer.

Wir waren mit zwei Personen Mitte Juni 2011 ein Wochenende dort und sehr zufrieden.
Das Zimmer ist hinreichend groß, Badezimmer auch o.k., Fenter dichten gut ab (man hört die Straße nicht).
Frühstück mit großer Auswahl an Speisen (für mich leider immer noch zu wenig Fisch, aber das ist halt persönliche Vorliebe). Einmal haben wir im Restaurant zu Abend gegessen. Hier gab es am Essen mengen– und geschmacksmäßig nichts auszusetzen. Für schwedische Verhältnisse war es auch nicht so teuer wie befürchtet. Eine gute Alternative ist der Chinese Richtung U-​Bahn-​Station. Dort haben wir zweimal sehr gut zu Abend gegessen.
Das Hotel liegt sehr günstig zur U-​Bahn-​Station Fridhemsplan (5 Min. Fußweg), auch die Busanbindung ist sehr gut (Haltestelle in 3 Min. Fußweg).
Wir würden hier noch einmal buchen.

Excellent hotel, one of the best Marriott’s I have stayed at, very friendly and helpful staff, nice relaxed restaurant and bar. The only thing that lets this hotel down is no mini bar!!!
