Cozy place. Good hot chocolate, like the legend goes. Quite pricy, which is standard for Gamla Stan in general. Also, if you are an Astrid Lindgren fan, apparently, Karlsson lived on top of their roof. But do not quote me on that.

Came here because of the high reviews. We went inside to order, and they asked if we were having our drinks there or takeaway, and if we were sitting inside or outside. We said we were sitting outside, so they told us to go outside and they would take our order. We sat for several minutes without anyone helping us and proceeded to go next door to kaffekoppen.

The location of this café is unbeatable. It’s also open pretty late, by Stockholm standards. Thus ends its redeeming qualities. Don’t trust the reviews raving about the hot chocolate. All we got was lukewarm milk with straight cocoa in it. Sitting outside in the Nobel laureate square more than made up for the lame libations, so I’d still consider swing by if your in old town. If I came back, I’d roll he dice on one of the four other cafes that currently share the square. If you really want hot chocolate, make the trip to chokaladfabriken. Since one star is the lowest you can rate a place on Unilocal, this café gets two, but solely for the location and friendly service.

I love this coffee shop! I bookmarked this place weeks before I even took my trip to Sweden, and as I walked through Gamla Stan on my first day, I spotted it! I was so excited! The cardamom cake is delicious here, and very Swedish. One of our friends who was with us is Swedish, and he commented how this cake tasted like what his grandmother used to make. You know it’s authentic! The coffee was also good. I had a cappuccino and was not disappointed. Highly recommended for coffee, cake, and people watching!

Definitely a must if you’re in Stockholm. We visited for 5 days and went 3 times. White chocolate cheesecake is out of this world and the quiches and sandwiches are filling and appetizing for such a small price! Thanks again for the great meals and deserts!

Cute, but insanely crowded and dim. They have the tiniest tables and chairs I’ve ever seen in a restaurant, *and* they’re all about 4 inches apart from each other. The bathroom is also the tiniest, most cramped bathroom I’ve ever been in. I got the Chai Latte, which was fine. Nothing special except for the dish it was served in – more of a miso soup bowl than a mug. We shared the chocolate ball, which would have been great if it hadn’t been loaded with coconut flakes inside. I really don’t like coconut, and it wasn’t mentioned on the menu – I’m not allergic so I never make a point to ask first, but the texture was just off. Also, everything came with a slice of orange. not really sure what that was all about.

Hmmm i am not sure why this place is so popular/famous. We got hot white chocolate and white chocolate macchiacino which were served in a small teeny timy jar. Nothing speical… The semla was not that good, borderline average. The place is nicely located next to the nobel prize museum and though it looks pretty on the outside, it was very small and dark inside Service was great though but a bit too pricey even for stockholm standard

Forgettable experience. Mochaccino tasted like ovaltine. Cinnamon bun was too large and super dry. Seating inside is crowded. Very easy to knock over everything. Bathroom is claustrophobic. Lightning is awfully dim. Feels like a dungeon. Service is hit or miss. Mugs don’t have handles so your beverage is served to you with the waiters hands on the rim of your cup. Let’s hope he/she washed them after taking their last shit. Avoid this place it’s a tourist trap. Go to Johan and Nystrom instead. That place would put this shithole outa business if they were in Gamla.

I came in for the hot cocoa. It was damn good. Got a kanelbulle. Tasty. It’s rather cosy but it’s a tourist trap and I didn’t stay long. Tourist with their damn selfie sticks not really enjoying the moment. What can you do?

We were recommended to this shop by another local shop owner. The prices and the coffee are best here she said. When we arrived, the owner was just opening up, but was very sweet and welcomed us in. We got two lattes and he asked if we wanted cinnamon in it, which was perfect! there is a tiny bathroom in the tiny interior. I loved the décor.

Based on reviews, the white hot chocolate and white chocolate cheese cake seemed the most unique so we went with that. The white hot chocolate was SWEEEEET as heck. Waaaaaaay to sweet for me. The white chocolate cheese cake was also sweet but less so, compared to the hot chocolate. All in all… Unique, but not worth.

Toller Platz!

We spend 300sek on 2 sandwiches, 2 cinnamon buns, 1 coffee and 1 can of pepsi. Even for Stockholm that is insanity! We ended up tossing most of the sandwiches and the buns, bread was too dry. The reason this place gets 1 star is that while I sat around and waited for our take-out, a waiter told the owner(?) a customer from outside had complained about a bug in her food. The owners comment: Ugh, its summer and they are sitting outside! Of course they are going to have bugs in their food. AND proceeds to walk outside with the food himself to tell the customer this. He comes back in a minute later, huffing and puffing and goes: Ugh. I’m not in the mood to fight with customers today. Just take it off! And the waiter just picks the bug off the plate and brings it back out to the customer ! Yuck! I also saw the waiter grabbing the TOP part of forks and knifes with his hands after handling money, credit cards and who knows what out on the patio. Ugh, nasty!

Nice terrace on the square: in the morning The Sun will keep u warm. The personnel is very nice and kind. I didn’t particularly like the chocolate muffin I had and I think that a place like this should have a wider selection of teas. Can’t say I wouldn’t recommend it or that I wouldn’t go back: I would go back for its location and people working there hoping that the quality has improved.

A cracking little café with nice coffee, cake and views. They even supply blankets for days like when I visited and it’s a little on the cold side. 4⁄5 stars because you are squeezed in to a tiny place, which is both one of its charms but also one of it’s downfalls. Removing one or two tables would certainly make for a more private experience. The cake was tasty and although the coffee a little on the colder side, it tasted great. The veggie lasagne also looked nice based upon what was served to the lady next to us.

Chokladkoppen has two separate small spaces right next to each other. The decoration is simple and very antique/vintage. In the summer time, It has one of the best outdoor sitting decks in gamla stan with lots of sun light. The hot chocolate is famous because it is delicious, although I personally enjoy a thicker consistency. The kanelbulle here is one of the best in town but if you are craving for something else there is a great variety of cakes to choose from. Overall a good fika place which becomes at its best in the summer.

Perfect place for a rainy day. The hot chocolate is amazing here. It gets crowded, so be prepared to wait. The kannel bulle was good as well. Would definitely come back.

Five stars because of the hot chocolate alone. I had read that this cute and cosy little café serves some of the best hot cocoa in the world, but I was skeptical until I tried it for myself. The blend of milk and chocolate and cream and cocoa powder and foam was absolutely on point. The waiter was so helpful and gave me a mini lesson about the chocolate after we had finished. The interior is beautiful, though the tables are a little cramped. It’s location in Stortorget Square makes it touristy, but it’s still worth it. Definitely try the cocoa!

Pricey but worth it. Little bit noisy when the coffee machine is on but the cakes are really tasty. Has a great location but this is a tourist hotspot so be prepared for that. Very cosy and a nice, modern wooden interior. Great place.

Chokladkoppen is located in Gamla Stan next to the Nobel museum. I saw more tourists here than any other part of Stockholm I’ve ever been to. Our waiter was from Italy and was super impressive because he spoke Italian, Swedish, English, and Spanish. He provided excellent service as well. My sister ordered an orange juice which she enjoyed and I ordered the cold chocolate drink and an apple pie. The apple pie crust was super crunchy and tasty and the cold chocolate drink was good as well. The outdoor patio for this restaurant was almost always full but there never seemed to be a wait or line. I ate at Vapiano beforehand but they serve lunch here as well if you want to have a meal.

I love this little café. The people watching, the location, the front patio, the latte, and the sweets. The lattes come out in a Japanese miso soup like bowl. Sipping on some latte and get the sweets! We got the white chocolate cheesecake, the caramel pie, and their cinnamon roll. The white chocolate cheesecake and the caramel pie was delicious. The whip cream on the caramel pie wasn’t sweet, which was good. You can skip the cinnamon roll, it’s so dry… definitely not the American cinnabon you are thinking of with the melted sweet cream. It is quite more cinnamony. Good place to take a break from all the site seeing.

Niedliches Café in Gamla Stan.

Kleines gemütliches Lokal in schöner Lage in Stockholms Gamla Stan.
