Cross Foxes Inn

Reasonably priced, excellent service and a stunning location next to a beautiful bridge over the canal. If you can ignore the smell of the septic tank, you will truly enjoy this place. The menu options provide a great choice of foods to enjoy while enjoying the views. There are places to relax on the lawn, plenty of tables, and even on a sunny Sunday the place wasn’t crowded. I look forward to visiting this place again!

Location, location, location.
Apart from the ambience and fine Ale selection the Foxes also serves my favourite hearty meal. Ham, Egg & Chips. I am talking real thick cut spuds that are well browned and slightly crispy round the edges but feather soft inside. Drool. But even better than all that it is located bang up alongside the beautiful river Dee just downstream of Llangollen.
What could be better than a warm Spring evening drinking an ice cold Guinness or sipping a cool Chardonnay whilst you share idle banter with family and friends accompanied by the soft burble of the river passing by.
I have to give a nod to the fine staff that work here also. All locals, never without a friendly, warm smile and there to ensure you get whatever you need to make the experience as good as it gets.

An absolutely gorgeous setting, with fantastic food. Child friendly, but really — just take your partner — the views over the river are so romantic.
Watch the entrance /​exit though. It’s on a sharp bend in the road!

The Cross Foxes at Erbistock is a lively food-​orientated pub which is part of the famed Brunning & Price chain. This, in turn, is owned by The Restaurant Group which has wisely left management largely untouched in the two years of its ownership. Situated on the River Dee with a number of outdoor tables having a panoramic view, one hardly notices the A528 that leads there from nearby Ruabon and Ellesmere.
The staff were friendly without being intrusive and the menu is varied everything from snacks through to three-​course meals. There is a relaxed ambience about the place with an open fire, pine settles and a couple of locals propping up the bar accompanied by an all-​knowing and well-​behaved terrier.

The Cross Foxes is a lovely little pub set along the banks of a river with a number of cosey nooks to tuck yourself away in as well as a roaring log fire that welcomes you as you come through.
The atmosphere is very welcoming, there are papers to flick through by the fire, there are a number of ales lagers and in what is becoming increasingly rare, a range of draft ciders to choose from.
The food at the Cross Foxes is more expensive that many of the chain pubs in the area but for your money you get quality food that has been locally sourced. the 24oz steak is an interesting challenge to set yourself and the Belgian waffle is delicious. A great place to hide from the cold in winter, wonderful for the kids to run around the garden in the summer.

Fab food, fab location. It is in the middle of the countryside meaning that someone will probably have to end up driving but this place is typical of what you would expect from a brunning and price pub. It is gorgeous inside and out, with tables by the river for when it is warm enough to eat outside.
The food, although a little pretentious and overpriced, is better that average for pub food and the chefs here are clearly skilled and have an interst in making traditional english pub dishes with a contemporary twist.
