Very cosy and nice pub, old and lots of atmosphere. We had real Suffolk ale here but unfortunately we were too stuffed to have lunch. Although it was very good looking. Very friendly stuff and the glass never ran dry…

The Cherry Tree is a traditional, homely English pub which serves a variety of meals which are of good quality, including a full English breakfast, a Sunday roast, lasagne or simply a tuna mayo baguette. The atmosphere is friendly and 99% of the staff I’ve come across in 13 years have always been polite and responsive. Besides the good food, the pub is ideal for families or friends who just want to relax with a couple of drinks, enjoy the long established weekly quiz night or stay warm in the winter by the fireplace. The prices are competitive too. Since 1999, we’ve taken various relatives and friends of the family here, including one Dutch friend who praised its: ‘Typical English charm.’

We visited here earlier this year for a pub lunch. My partner ordered a fish medley thing and was very happy. I had the curry, which was very tasty. The service was good as were the prices. If I could change anything about the experience I think I would say the portion sizes were a tad small. But we would go again.

We didn’t want to cook, and as we were both a little poorly with colds we decided to cheer ourselves up with a little tea out. Ive visited the Cherry tree many times for beer and an escape.(I used to frequent their Quiz night on Thursdays) but have never eaten here before. We had Steak and Ale pie, and Sausage and Mash; Both were lovely, and the steak pie Miss Simpson choose for mains was perfect. Simple, hot and tasty. The beer(admittedly, only a Guinness) was well kept and perfect also. Staff were friendly and helpful, and despite our horrid colds we both firmly enjoyed ourselves with a bit of connect four after tea! The only critisism I could possibly make would be the apple pie we shared for dessert — It was rather tastless, but the HUGE size and piping hot custard made up for it. We will be back, hopefully for the Quiz, but if not for connect four and scrabble! A perfect pub to escape to, I only wish I lived near enough to make it my local!

We have visited this pub several times over the past few years and have found it to be a pleasant enough place serving good food. That is until our last visit on October 4th2008 which turned into a nightmare. Our party of five adults aged between fifty and eighty six were served pleasantly enough by the waiters, but one meal, which should have been poached Haddock and Salad arrived as Fried Fish and Chips. This was eventually replaced by the poached Haddock. Unfortunately this piece of fish did not smell or taste very fresh and was returned. As four of our party had now finished their meals, we decided to have an omelette and salad to save time. This arrived with chips and not salad but we kept quiet. Desserts arrived and the homemade bread and butter pudding arrived as bread pudding. Again we kept quiet. The bill arrived and we had been charged for the off poached haddock and the omelette. When this was queried the landlord(?) was very agressive with much shouting and finger waving, accusing us of being out to get a free meal at his expense when three pubs a week are closing and went on to say pay the bill and get out and don’t come back again To avoid further embarrassment and distress to our elderly mother, we paid the bill and left. we will never go back to this pub again, and neither will any of our friends and associates to whom we have related this experience.

Just on the outskirts of Woodbridge — not far from Notcutts — you will find the Cherry Tree Inn, a 17th Century public house. The pub has a very pleasant white exterior, and an interior to match. There is an excellent choice of food on the menu, most of it being home cooked. I can recommend the steak and ale pie or the yorkshire pud. There is also a varied selection of beers on tap and the atmosphere is never less than friendly. Outside there is a car park, a nice beer garden where children can also play(weather permitting), and a barn that has been converted into hotel-style accommodation. Woodbridge is a pretty small place so you can fairly easily walk from the town to the Cherry Tree.

Many things to mention for this pub. First of all, very good drink especially ales. Food is fantastic, my favourite dish is crab salad which is £6−7 and it comes in a very big portion, desserts are also nice. Lots of pub games i.e. dominos, scrabble, pub trivia etc. Beautiful garden at the back is good for family meal as it has green area for children to run around. The landlord and landlady are very kind and sweet. Last time I was there, we’re allowed to plug in our laptop to get internet connection for free, guess this generous offer is still on. Customers are quite a mix between young people and elderly, they are all very friendly anyway.
