I would highly recommend this restaurant. Good atmosphere and very good food. The staff helpful and friendly. My only criticism is the interior is a little too dark for my liking.

Went here on Saturday for a friends birthday. the staff were very good, while it was difficult because their was a large group of us, the staff did very well to record who ordered what an their was only one tiny mistake out of 20 starters and mains. food was nice, small-ish portions, but very nice all the same.

This is a review for the Pad Thai restaurant which is situated above the Red Lion pub. The other half and I enjoyed an excellent meal at this restaurant. We both had a curry each and an extra dish of sweet and sour chicken, together with two helpings of coconut rice. The surroundings are in an old Tudor building steeped in character, and there are several Thai paintings and pictures on the wall. Staff are friendly and welcoming. I’ve been here several times and have always had great service. My only negative comment is the portions are quite small, so make sure you have at least one more dish than the number of people at your table. Prices however are inexpensive so you will be able to afford the extra plate! The restaurant is quite small so I would imagine if they had a large party it would be very loud.

a nice little find we dont usually eat out in wokingham, as you walk into the pub the first impression is a spit n sawdust pub but go upstairs to the restaurant and the world changes its cosy clean and fairly modern with the trims of thai around. service was fairly quick and polite also helpfull with changing your choice ie somepeople wont touch sizzling steak if the word chilli comes near it especially my wife, the mixed starters for two is limited and could do with one or two more items on it for the price. our main courses were excellent we had sizzling steak, pad me, cocunut rice, and of course the jungle curry for me which i must say was above excellent so many restaurants serve thai currys with far to much watery sauce so its more like a soup than a curry but this was served just right. i have given only fourstars for two simple things one the plates were bought out far too early and before the meals arrived the plates were cold and secondly there was no finger food ie crackers or asian mix to pick on while looking at the menu but hopefully if the staff read this it will change and maybe get 5stars soon

This is not the 1st Thai restaurant above the Red Lion — there been ones here on & off for a number of years. If my memory serves me well, The Pad Thai has been open a little less than a year now after The Red Lion itself went through yet another refurbishment — a term used to describe a change of management or new landlord due to the previous people failing. This time, the restaurant runs the pub & not the other way round. The dining area is upstairs under exposed beams, fortunately left black & not painted white all over! The ambience is fairly modern that does suit the ancient feel of the building well enough. The service is prompt & polite with jovial bows that come across as genuine from the youthful staff. The starters come with fresh salad & tasty. The main courses include a good selection of Thai curries including duck & have a fine balance of transient heat & wonderful coconut flavour & the rice fluffy but not too sticky. The Pad Thai noodle dish has just the right amount of course-ground peanut & yes, plenty of cooked carrot that are neither too raw or too soft. The other vegetable such as spring onions were also tasty & of good colour. The problem I usually have by the end of a meal here is that I tend to feel well fed! As a beer drinker, the icing on the cake is being able to consume a pint or three of Brakspears. I’ve been less impressed when visiting for a drink in The Red Lion when not eating. The pint of OBJ could have pickled onions & the house Rose was foul! If you go for one of the more exotic beers — start of with a half a pint 1st! The more common beers have enough turnover to not suffer. Worth a visit.
