First class pub in windsor, lovely cosy bar and tables inside, and a nice ‘veranda’ with big tables outside overlooking the long walk(although there is a fairly busy road between the pub and the park!) Its a fantastic stop off point on your way back to town after a walk through the great park. They provide a few newspapers. so you can enjoy an afternoon drink out in the sunshine catching up on the days news/gossip. Short but sweet wine list(4 – 5 reds and the same number of whites), which is incredibly affordable, and covers the major varietals They are willing to give jugs of iced tap water too. Menu looks great(kind of intro level gastopub grub), they have occasional theme nights– which the bar man told me were essential to book forin addition thursdays is steak night(£25 for 2 steaks and 2 glasses wine) and fridays its ‘fish friday’(£10 for two courses) Bar staff are friendly, plus they show all the major football/rugby matches. Far enough away from the town centre that its not a tourist trap and has a welcoming atmosphere. Great for a group meet up, but would also work for a couple and you would even feel comfortable as a ‘one’, I really like this place… As a final note they really have everything covered even the loos are great: spacious, clean and the ladies have flowers in!
