We were out in this area for a rehearsal dinner for a friend’s wedding. I would highly suggest this location for your next party. They handled the crowd very well. They have an excellent scotch selection. This place should be a first choice for those who have a must do guy event. The portions for everything were huge! Here is what I tried(eating some off other’s plates): duck salad, braised lamb, crème brûlée, sausage and mashed potatoes, apple and rhubarb crisp, and sticky toffee pudding. Yes, all of the above I would suggest. The lamb portion must had been over a pound of meat! I was very much unable to finish my plate though my palate wanted to so bad.

Really good pub that’s all about the food, bit has at least six ales, at least 4 of which are fairly good. Obviously, the Bhurtpore in Aston is much better, but this is not a bad pub at all.

Yum! Lovely pub, amazing food. You pay restaurant prices but the food is gorgeous. Lasagne with super garliky garlic bread was delicious and the pork belly was a generous portion with perfect crackling. Great selection of wines(and the white is served cold yay!) and ales — even ‘green’ bitter, produced in a carbon-neutral way. You have to drive here as it’s pretty remote(well, seems remote to a city-dweller) but that’s fine as long as someone else is doing the driving and all you have to do is sleep it all off on the way home. Definitely recommend.

This is my favourite local pub. I like it because of the pleasant ambiance and relaxed feel. Books and interesting local pictures line the walls, often reflecting local cheese making. The garden and the herb bed at the entrance are also attractive and reflect the general level of cleanliness and care taken. There is always a good choice of food for most tastes, including usually more than one fish and vegetarian options. It is also good to see British favourites and the selection of cheese is above average. I am told that the Real Ale is beautifully kept, and the choice of 3 or 4 changes regularly, there is also good cider on draught, as well as a wide ranging wine and port list. Most of the wine can be bought by the glass in two sizes. Food wise, its usually good and sometimes excellent, although occasionally I have been disappointed, but not enough to stay away. The convenience of the food service hours is brilliant, as is the availability of a roast all day Sunday. Finally, the young staff and the landlord are all friendly, as well as efficient and amenable to requests re small changes to the menu options. It can get busy at peak times, so its wise to book, but you can wait too. My only criticism is that prices are creeping up and this may prevent it being a more regular option, which is a pity.
