Please excuse my ignorance… but who knew there was such a beautiful beach in the North West?! Not me that’s for sure. After an evening stroll along the sand and through the town we were looking for somewhere relaxed to eat and in comparison to the more lively bar/restaurants to the North of the town, Scogs fit the bill perfectly. We were able to get a table for two with no wait, I think we were quite lucky as the restaurant was very full — which is always a good sign. I ordered the gourmet burger, the portion was generous and it was freshly made. I didn’t measure but the patty must have been at least an inch thick! This made it all the more disappointing for me when I bit into it and found it to be very well done. Now in their defence I never asked for my burger medium-rare, but they never asked me what I wanted either… I personally thought this made the burger a bit dry, however when my boyfriend had a sneaky bite he actually preferred it, saying that it was less greasy. Regardless, it was flavoursome and served with chips as chunky as my burger-loving fingers. Despite being the youngest couple in the restaurant we didn’t feel out of place. There was live music throughout the evening with acoustic covers of popular songs such as Coldplay and Amy Winehouse — which actually wasn’t as cringe worthy as it might sound and helped to create a laid back atmosphere. This was definitely a case of right place, right time and I don’t feel the need to rush back for dinner, but this is definitely a good place to take visiting friends or maybe for a hearty brunch before hitting the beach. Also just a little update that the two course offer other Unilocalers have mentioned is now £14.95 before 6.30pm or £17.95 after 6.30pm.

Scogs is a really great restaurant based on a corner(which I just think is the best position ever). There is space to sit in or out of the restaurant depending on the weather. Inside, the lamp shades are a bright colour of pink and the pictures are also bright with varying degrees of pink and black. They are open everyday of the week for 12 hours — not a lot of restaurants can boast this! Marcel has already mentioned the three coursese for £15.95 deal. They also have Scogs famous big breakfast available all week at £7.95 from 10am — 1pm. As well as the early bird menu £11.95 for 2 courses, available from 12 noon to 7pm. The staff are very helpful and the service is very efficient.

Scog’s(Previously known as ‘Scognamiglios’) is a fantastic restaurant based on the corner of Banks Road in West Kirby. It has a great atmosphere, great food and wine, and is just five minutes away from the beach, perfect for a post dinner stroll. They do a great offer Sunday through to Wednesday from 12 noon to 10pm you can get three courses and a glass of wine for just £15.95. I would personally recommend the seafood platter! It is amazing, with crabmeat, mussels, salmon, squid, prawns, bread, salad and dips. We ate this last time we went to Scogs and it was huge! It filled us up and we could barely eat our main courses, but it was fantastic! The mains are delicious and they have lots of great wines or bottles of Peroni to wash your meal down with. I would recommend booking at the weekends as this place gets very busy!

Previously the more formal Scognamiglio’s, Scogs is open all through the day, every day with a fab menu. The décor is contemporary, with a nice relaxing informal ambiance. You can pop in for coffee and a pastry(their pancakes look delicious), a light snack or full 3 course meal. The quality of the food is very good, fresh and properly –cooked by someone who obviously knows what they’re doing. Excellent local meat. They are let down by the quality of their service, which is all smile and no substance! They could really do with getting in a professional to pull the serving team together. However the food keeps us going back
