Terrible Cod was thick greasy batter with hard flakes of tasteless Cod. Chips were not cooked right through. Never had a worse Fish and Chips to be honest, I dont normally go on reviews but feel I’ve been robbed after paying a tenner for 2x Cod and 1x scoop of chips, considering the food was awful. I often wonder how people can take your money and serve rubbish? I’d have taken it back only we had take away and already left the area.

The Marigold is one of the best fish and chips shops that I have ever been too in my life. It also holds a great deal of nostalgia for me as it’s a place I was treated too on Sunday’s when growing up on the Wirral. We used to go in and get Fish, Chips, Peas and Curry special which used to cost about £4.99 with a drink. It’s your standard good quality fish and chip shop that most towns/villages in UK have, but it’s great quality food and they have a large seating area inside, which is unusual for a chippy. Marigolds is also in a prime location, bang in the centre of West Kirby, five minutes’ walk from the train station and five minutes walk from the beach and the marine lake. This means if it’s a nice day then you can take your fish and chips down to the beach or a bench along the front and enjoy them there! If you’re visiting Liverpool from abroad, West Kirby is 30 minutes away by train and is a beautiful place!

We Brits love our Chippy’s, no town is complete without one. Fish and Chips is something we are proud of, the thick chips and the greasy yet delicious battered cod just gets all the glands helplessly salivating, for me anyway. In a nutshell yes this is a chippy, however when you do get a chance to visit it is a tad more fresh and clean than your average chip shop. The fish used is always fresh and they also have chicken on the menu taken from neighbouring butchers. On your next visit to Liverpool Bay whenever that maybe check out Marigold’s, for a spot of fish and chips after your seaside walk.

Marigolds is a local institution! Recently revamped and looks more like a fast food joint, but they win by continuing to specialise in fish and chips, with just a limited additional menu and doing what they do really well! Indoor café eating area or takeaway. More expensive than some other chippies, but they manage to get away with it, on reputation, quality and consistency. Have always been obsessively protective of their toilet facility, with customers at one point having to ask the waitress for the toilet key(don’t know if they still do this?!)so don’t try to nip in on the premise of checking out the menu!
