Want to feel like you’re either on set for Shaun of the Dead or World’s End, well look no further. This place puts most country pubs to shame with its dated décor, complete with ridiculously nostalgic 1970s flowered wallpaper and pub chairs and tables you’d find resold on eBay for your entire paycheck. Split into the Saloon and the Dining Room this pub is definitely frequented by the locals but only because Queens Road has zilch for parking and neither does the pub. Hence this is a place for walkers from the myriad of dwellings of all varieties. The pub exudes class compared to its competition slightly further down the street by the Hersham Village roundabout but one does call to question the food over the beer. Dearer pints are found here than equivalent locals opened for a slightly yuppie’r or down market vibe. There is much conversation in the dining room and the games saloon is stacked with pool tables and mini casino games, a familiar sight for the age appropriate. Altogether this isn’t a pub for the haute cuisine loving, globetrotting elite patron but truly the living room for the local community.
