Wagamama

This was my first time in this particular Wagamama, but I’ve been to a fair few before so I knew what to expect. I was pleased when we were initially seated although I noted the décor was a little bit different to what I expected and you get walked around a large bar area to the seats in the back. But whatever, it’s an odd layout but I can get behind it.
It only became a little strange when the staple of a Wagamama — writing your order on the sheet of paper — didn’t happen. My wife and I were a little puzzled as the waiter left without doing it. Then ten minutes passed and we started to see a recurring problem throughout the restaurant — the waiters don’t know where the dishes are meant to be going. So they gave an entirely incorrect plate to someone near us who clearly had forgotten what they ordered.
Fortunately we knew what we had, so when my chicken katsu wandered past and got offered to someone else first (only for them to reject it thankfully) I knew that it was mine and called it over.
I tend to only give three stars to chain restaurants when they’re doing what is expected of them, so I think that this is a pretty easy fix for this particular Wagamama — just do what the rest of the chain has demonstrated is effective. But till then, I’ll have to knock off a star, but I hope to come back in the future at some point and put it back on once this is resolved.

It was a day out with family and we ended up in front of Wagamama at Uxbridge. Kids had already had their happy meals which meant that we could go in and not worry too much about the kids.
We went in and were seated immediately by a friendly staff. Drinks and starters orders were taken quickly but had to request for activity books for the kids.
Food arrived pretty quick — some Gyoza (Veg) which was not great and Tori Kara Age the Chicken Fry which was as usual.
For mains I normally order their firecracker chicken but for a change I had a Ginger Chicken Udon and Mrs had a Veg Donburi. Food came piping hot. The ginger chicken udon was delicately flavoured and I enjoyed it very much.
Food and quantity wise it’s not ‘great’ but we enjoyed our lunch experience as the food was hot, ambience was nice and relaxed and the staff were super friendly. Three course meal with drinks for two around £45 which was slightly pricey for the quality and quantity but don’t have any other complaints,
Will go again if we end up at Intu Uxbridge and get a craving for some Japanese!

I have been to a number of Wagamama restaurants in my time. This is sadly the worst I have been too.
I have been twice so far, each time I have left disappointed by cold and tasteless food. Although my second visit the food was slightly warmer, it was equally as tasteless — a sad day for a pad Thai lover like myself.
