As a local i have been to this pub many times over the years. It has a great refurbishment which manages to combine modern pub dining with chilled old pub vibes. The food is good, seriously recommend the scotch egg, and a nice selection of ales and wines. Nice outside area too, located opposite Radnor Gardens, a park with the Thames running though. Occasional monthly music and disco.

Below average food. Bar tenders are slow and have no personality. Besides they have no idea have to make drinks or run the register. Lots of fried food. Cleanliness of bar is questionable. Not my favorite place.

So far so good. Athough the sink in the bathroom is not working fine. I will detail more soon !

We didn’t think too much to the Alexander Pope Hotel, which was more than a little rough around the edges. We paid £114 for one night and got a cobwebby room with water stains, missing drawers, waterlogged shower and a springy bed, and the included breakfast was poor, with very little choice and extra charged for a simple cappuccino. But the staff member upon checking out was delightful and a real credit to this place. I couldn’t help but wonder if their manner and customer skills would be better rewarded in a better hotel. The practical things: there’s reasonable parking space, with an underground car park and a secure code-operated gate. Furnishings in the restaurant look good and comfortable, and there seems to be room to manœuvre.

In this price category you can’t beat it. Double room with flat screen TV, Iron and Ironing Board, electric kettle with coffee and a selection of teas. Great English breakfast included. And perhaps the most important of all, a friendly and efficient staff. I am happy to recommend The Alexander Pope.
