The Parlour

So I’ve popped in Parlour a couple of times for drinkies half way through the night and on the very busy Horse and Jockey Fireworks night!
Good selection of beers, wines, spirits and ciders etc, staff are very helpful and laid back and not at all pretentious which is GOOD!
This place gets very rammed so make sure you get in early!
I have heard the roasts on a Sunday are brilliant but am yet to try them… watch this space!
PS. they also have wasabi peanuts at the bar!

Delicious roast beef Sunday lunch. Can’t really fault it! Really cool atmosphere inside although they kept the door open as it was sunny, so everyone’s smoke from outside wafted in putting us in a smoking area which wasn’t so great. Need to get there early on a Sunday as the roasts are so popular and soon run out.

Parlour is a very good bar on Beech Road. It has a traditional feel about it and is always incredibly busy. We went there for Sunday lunch and enjoyed it very much. I had the nut roast which was very good. The portion was massive, the nut roast tasty and the accompaniments were delicious. I especially enjoyed the parsnips and roasties. The sticky toffee pudding I had for dessert was of a really high quality. The food was definitely good enough for 5 stars but the place was just too busy and we felt like we’d been crammed in. Also the large table next to us was so loud we couldn’t hear ourselves speak which isn’t ideal when you want to catch up with friends. Also for me Electrik just edges it when it comes to Sunday lunch.

Parlour is a well established bar on Beech Rd, perfect for a Sunday pub lunch and a read over the papers with a few pints.
Owned by the people that are responsible for some of my favourite boozers, the Castle on Oldham St in the city centre and Bakers Vaults in Stockport, the relaxed bar staff and drinks options are similar here, but it’s no identikit chain, these people know how to run a bar that fits into its surroundings.
On any given visit it’s usually fairly busy with babies or toddlers and their parents chatting over a decent jukebox, or well behaved dogs rooted to the spot near their owner, it’s what makes Parlour a pleasant visit; the feeling that it’s part of the community’s routine.
Food is of the traditional British variety, hearty pies, plenty of mash, all that sort of thing, but fine very well indeed — Parlour have even win awards for the best Sunday lunch in the country, worth it for the Yorkshire puds alone! Sundays are probably the busiest day, so if you have a hangover that only can be killed with food or are planning to eat with friends and family you would be best advised to ring ahead and reserve a table, otherwise you could be in for quite a wait, which is no bad thing!

Probably the place that first comes to mind when I think «cozy, down-​home-​done-​right, local place»… LOVE the Sunday Roasts. Love every special they come up with. and love the bar. It always feels warm and cozy from the grey, rainy day. and they’re always nice to my daughter which says a lot about the ethic and mood of the workplace I’m sure. Love it.

Trying to categorise The Parlour is like trying to catch lightning in a bottle. It’s a busy bar that does amazing food. It’s a restaurant, but which has the well-​kept beer and cosy atmosphere of a well-​loved local. It’s a pub with the relaxed daytime ambiance (and free WiFi) of an independent café. It tries to be all things to all people and, despite being at the pricier end of what you expect in the area, it does seem to actually work.
Firstly the food. They take local produce and seasonal eating seriously, using suppliers such as Chorlton’s own Frost’s Butchers and Out of the Blue fishmongers, plus fruit and veg producers also based in the North West. There are plenty of pub classics on the menu (think burgers, fish and chips etc), but some really well-​thought out creative dishes too, which change a lot. A highlight for us was a belly pork dish last year with puy lentils — but talking of highlights, the Sunday roast is without doubt the best I’ve had in Chorlton. Melt-​in-​the-​mouth beef, towering Yorkshires and beautiful veg … but pretty sure it was the gravy that won them the Observer Food Monthly award for best Sunday lunch in 2012 (they were runner up in 2013).
The interior is dark wood, with a jukebox, piano in the corner, Chesterfield sofa, plus stools, more formal tables and some outside seating for sunny days. Haven’t explored the wine much, but as mentioned above, the beer is cared for, with options rotating between North West breweries including Redwillow, a firm favourite of mine. Also haven’t had the negative staff experience of some other reviewers, so top marks from me for great experiences all round.

Welcoming cosy pub, well decorated and nice drinks selection. Also has tables outside in the summer on the popular Beech road in Chorlton to take in the culture of the local Chorltonites!
Didn’t eat on my visit last night but I am a regular here for the Sunday Roast — voted The Observer’s no 1 Sunday roast last year!
Just in for some drinks last night and and managed to get a table after 10 mins but seating can sometimes be a problem, particularly on a Sunday and they don’t take bookings for less than 6 people so it’s a bit of a game of luck!

Parlour, I haven’t had you’re food as of yet I shall however rectify at my earliest free moment.
You’re beer selection I approve and enjoy, glad it’s not falling down the IPA’s the new Lager route that several places seem to be converting too in the town centre.
Parlours goodness ‘can’ also be its downfall, it is often difficult to get a seat, I’ve not found the best time to go there yet, except maybe midweek straight from work, but this isn’t the make or break issue it is simply worth bearing in mind you maybe standing.

Faultless. Great local food and a great range of beers. Been twice each time loved the food. Best food in Manchester, well in my opinion.

Ummm, not too impressed with this place. It’s evidently very popular, but then again, so are most places on Beech Road. Maybe that’s a result of its location as it certainly doesn’t seem to reflect the service. The inside is beautiful and cosy, but you know that feeling you get when it’s like you’re a burden on the staff? Or you’re being rushed? The food was fine, but a little pricey for what it is.
I had to ask for my change at the end, because they kept it. Probably would have left it as a tip anyway, but when they shoved it into my hand instead of casually leaving it on a plate I decided to not give a tip. Pretty poor (me and the service)

It started promising with a table outside in the sun and prompt attention from a friendly waitress. I had smoked haddock and mackerel fish cakes and a nice cold lager. The fish cakes were fresh and crispy outside and didn’t contain too much potato. Sadly, the waitress was never to be seen again. I could have just disappeared, but eventually went inside to pay. The very unfriendly person behind the bar couldn’t be bothered to apologise or ask if everything was to my liking. Not good enough!

A sister pub to the much-​loved Castle on Oldham St, this cosy pub is situated in the middle of Yummy Mummy Chorlton: Beech Road. Up near the Green end of the road, it’s a small place with a welcoming feel. On my visit on a sodden Sunday afternoon, the few well-​kept real ales on tap were much needed.
I had the roast pork dinner. At just over a tenner, it’s decent value, as you get a huge plate of food: you’re not going to go hungry.
It came with wonderfully sweet honey roast parnsips, carrot and swede mash, decent roast potatoes, and a very nice apple sauce, and probably more I’ve forgotten. Most noticably, there was a huge nobbly Yorkshire pudding. It was all rather good, although unfortunately the pudding was a little over-​cooked and ever so slightly burnt.
I’d definitely come back if I were in the area.

I’m a Chorlton resident and since it’s opening at the end of last years summer, the Parlour has been a regular haunt of mine. Great interior, fantastic selection of beers (one of the best in Manchester in my opinion) and fantastic food from Jenny Cole and co. The Sunday roasts are definitely the best in Manchester and I’ve forgotten how many times friends have said it was the best they’ve ever had. One even said it was better than her mums — enough said!
The staff are always pleasant and really know their stuff when it comes to the selection of wines and beers — great to have round if you’re feeling indecisive or looking for some inspiration!
All in all, a great place to take mates /​family or even go yourself. Definitely worth checking out!

Simply the best roasts in all of Mancunia. I’ve been the last 3 Sundays in a row. I can’t get enough of the truly magnificent and mountainous roast dinners. Mutant Yorkshire Puddings, perfect roasties, carrot and swede mash, caramelised parsnips, curly kale and creamy mashed potato. All cooked to perfection by the exceptional head chef Jenni Cole who’s passion for locally sourced, sustainable food sources really comes through in the quality of her dishes.
Impecable service and a warm and friendly atmosphere unrivalled on Beech Road.
An ideal place for a relaxing Sunday. Beers and wines have been wonderfully selected and chosen to compliment the contemporary British menu.
Not to be missed, get down on a Sunday and have a wild old time.
