Sorry, had an awful experience here. The family went for Sunday lunch on Father’s Day. Restaurant was about 1⁄3rd full, at best. Staff took initial order, and all seemed fine. My wife ordered a risotto, my elder son(14-years old) a pizza, my youngest(10 year old) son a children’s burger and I a ‘Sizzling skillet” with steak. Drinks arrived OK. No food, though. Waited 30 mins. Waitress asked if we wanted more drinks, and we placed an order. We were then brought the ones we ordered, plus one we didn’t order. Waiter asked if I wanted it anyway. I said no. Waited another 20 mins before complaining. Food arrived about 10 minutes later… except for mine. Waitress realised I didn’t have any food, and asked which kind of roast I had ordered. I told her, naturally, that I hadn’t ordered a roast, and reminded her of what I did order. Waitress came back shortly and said we could have my meal free of charge. In the meantime, my younger child’s meal would not have challenged a 3 year old. My wife’s risotto looked like it had come from a boil-in-the-bag from the local supermarket. It apparently tasted ‘OK’ though. My elder son couldn’t each much of his pizza(he really loves pizzas, by the way) — my wife tasted it and declared it was«horrible» and entirely inedible. My meal arrived about 15 mins later than my family’s, only it was missing the salsa and soured cream sauces stated on the menu. Member of staff decided to inform me I wasn’t entitled to them, but they would let me have them ‘as a favour’. Wow. My food was acceptable, but not great. Decided to refuse staff’s later offer of desserts(at our cost, naturally), asked for bill. Bill included the drink we didn’t order, and the meal promised free. BIG complaint iver this, of course, and my wife paid what was actually due, obviously without a tip.

This pub on the Holyhead Rd has changed hands a couple of times in the last 5 years but has always maintained a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We have gone there for mothers day meals a couple of times, the food used to be a bit hit and miss but in recent years has improved drastically, they also frequently run 2 for 1 offers in the week for main meals which works out as fantastic value. Sunday dinners are always good and the staff are friendly. They also seem to be particularly child friendly at weekends which is nice. It has a large car park next to it.
