You can’t beat the setting — especially in the summer. Right by the river, huge garden and a BBQ out back. But everyone will be heading here, and this can be the downfall of your experience. It’s too busy in the summer! The staff can rarely cope, which means long waits at the bar and even longer wait for your food. I’d suggest getting here early for lunch, get the food out the way(which can be very tasty indeed) and then relaxing in the garden all afternoon. In the winter it’s a little more cosy — and very much has a country pub feel to it. There aren’t really any alternatives this end of Teddington. In summary; hit and miss.

I have been to The Anglers a couple of times recently, once for lunch and another time for drinks after work. There are two very good things about the pub: the staff and the setting. On both occasions the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, while the location by the river is fantastic — admittedly I went in winter so haven’t yet tried sitting outside… A word of warning though: the food is really not good. I ordered a fish finger sandwich which had been recommended to me and it was very disappointing. The bread was thick sliced Hovis and the fish fingers were a weird grey colour with a large amount of potato in them to pad then out. It really was awful and I would not eat at The Anglers again. The fish and chips that someone at another table ordered looked good but was nearly £12 which is a bit too much for a sneaky pub lunch on a break from work. I’ll be back for the river-setting and the great service but will stay well away from the food menu.

Both best and worst to visit in the summer(we were there in Aug). Great gardens and by the river, but busy and unable to cope with the numbers they attract. We queued for 30mins to order, and then waited 2hrs for food(with children) before giving up and going elsewhere. Staff and general organisation are hopeless, as if they’re surprised when the hordes turn up on hot days!

Great food and Sunday roasts in this place, loads and loads of staff, but that is because it can get extremely busy in the summer. The beer is kept well. major downside is the price of food and drink is more than some nice pubs around the area.

Interesting pub with a fantastic garden on the river. Perfect for summer afternoons. Excellent bar service, the pub was very busy but got served quickly and efficiently. The only potential downside is the kids playground, this is a family pub which might not suit everyone.

I like this place. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is friendly and the décor is great. The best thing is that when you walk through the door and it’s cold outside, you’re greeted by warmth and the smell of a real log fire… Beautiful! Quiz night is a but dodgy… Don’t expect a peaceful meal then because the quizmaster likes his pa system LOUD! Nice big beer garden for the summer and good selection of drinks… Me likes!

I have to agree wholeheartedly with Mark S’s review, as l do enjoy sitting by the river enjoying a good beer and food whilst watching the world go by, so much more pleasant than the smells and noise of urban traffic, okay the peace may be occasionally broken by the planes coming into land at Heathrow, but you switch off to that very quickly, especially after a few glasses of sauvignon blanc, cider and or Guinness?

Excellent place to enjoy a sunny afternoon outside — grills, playground for children, a lot of tables and benches, and last but not least: excellent food.

When the sun shines, this place goes awal! It’s just had a refurb and is looking alot better now, they seem to have sorted out the slight problem of service too… At least when you order a round now you get it before closing time! Not sure on the food cause i was scared it would be cold by the time it got to me!

Right on the river with a large garden, The Anglers is a popular pub amongst the young and trendy and families alike. There are regular barbecues in the summer(and on a nice day, it can be difficult to find a space to sit outdoors) and a good children’s play area. Access is from the front or, if you’re coming by boat, the back, where there is a small mooring spot and shingle beach(ette). The footbridge across the Thames is just next to the garden, and is quite a sight. The pub is also right next door to Teddington Studios. The inside is very large, and, as seems to be increasingly common, mostly hard surfaces. There is a decent ale selection, as well as lagers, wines and spirits. Service is good(though not remarkable). They do food in the winter, though I’ve not eaten the non barbecue food in some years(we used to go a lot more often than we do now when our daughter was small). The barbecue is truly excellent, with superb burgers and some non-standard fare as well, including, sometimes, venison burgers. There is a function room upstairs which I have visited but never used — it is of a good size. This is a good, if impersonal large pub, and a very pleasant place(especially if you have or don’t mind children) to spend a sunny summer’s afternoon.

I went for lunch and it was really nice. The food was a really high standard for the prices. The Ploughmans was really tasty and had everything possible with it — loads of cheeses, ham, bread, pickles etc. On the river, so a nice few from the back of the pub.
