I am being generous with this review. If I was reviewing our young red headed waitress it would probably be a 4 star. The food was good, although a little pricey. We were visiting Taunton and saw this place while walking, looking for a nice place to eat. When we entered, the restaurant was empty at around 7 pm. We did not have reservations which seemed to make the head waiter have attitude. We were placed in a little corner table. This same waiter took our orders and then never came by our table once the rest of our evening, although the other tables had plenty of his attention. It may be because he doesn’t like Americans?! I don’t know, but we cannot recommend this eating establishment. We also will not be back.

Excellent in here last night. Top service and the nicest food I’ve had in Taunton, other than my own obviously. I still have two places left to try in town, but the Castle Bow has smashed The Sanctuary out of the water. The restaurant itself is very small, you have to enter through Brazz, the bar next door. I had a wine in there and waited for my table. I’m seldom late, but on this occasion the restaurant didn’t open until half six, so me arriving at quarter past did nobody any favours. The food was very well presented and creatively put together. The pork main that I had included belly, fillet and a black pudding. There’s a lot more on the menu I would have liked to try. The fresh fish daily is good, lots of decent offerings. I should have had a pud really, but I was full. The server there was top notch. Very attentive, friendly and talkative. I spent £35 on a table for one — a carafe of wine and two courses. I’ll go again soon I’m sure. Cheers.
