There are not many pubs left in Ryhope they seem to be closing one down every week. The Guide Post Inn is one of the few remaining. From outside it is appealing. There are signs on both walls advertising events and turns. The windows are clean — which is always a good selling point. And the flowers in the hanging basket are well cared for. Just makes for a pleasent feeling when you go. When you walk in, it’s a bit like them olden day pubs where everyone stops talking and looks at you. But they soon start talking again so you don’t feel like a lemon all night. The drinks are average price but have gone up since the smoking ban, where haven’t they? The staff are friendly enough and I’m sure that if we went there more regularly they would become friends. All in it’s a decent local and close to a fab chippy for on the walk home.
