What a great place for a lunchtime meeting. Easy to find just off the A428 with plenty of parking and a really great lunchtime ‘Two courses for £10′ lunch offer. Between us we bypassed the starters and headed straight for the main course + dessert option, enjoying the pork chop, butternut squash risotto and the fish cake with super crispy chips. We cleared our plates! Then ice cream for the least adventurous one and super dark chocolate tart served with super chewy honeycomb for the other two. We found room for a coffee and left happy… we had put the world to rights, eaten well and found some calm in the middle of a busy day. Service was friendly but well judged, not pushy or in our way. A very successful return visit… more to follow!

A review for the pub/restaurant: Went here on the recommendation of a hotel in the area. I had half a pint of ale and the pork sausages and potatoes in mustard sauce. The food was really well done and you could tell that care was put into it. I went with my colleague from Scotland, and he approved. Entrees ranged from around 11 pounds to 14 pounds. The steaks were more expensive. I would agree that the price was just a tad expensive overall. The inside was like a cozy little house. It had short ceilings. It was kind of like a hobbit house, but all the furniture was replaced by random mis-matched chairs and tables. A very homey feeling.

* Please note, I am reviewing the rooms, rather than the pub(we didn’t really have time to see the pub!) Around the back of this lovely village pub are some mobile-home-esque hotel rooms. We stayed here after an amazing wedding(as other friends also live in this village, and it was easy to get a taxi back late at night.) Yays: — The room was warm and comfy, so we slept well — Tea, cereal, milk etc was all provided in the room, so you can make your own breakfast! Nays: — I’m sure we were meant to check out by 10am, but we couldn’t find anyone to give the keys back to! The pub main door was locked, so I have no idea how we could’ve contacted staff if we needed something! — There wasn’t a hair drier(and as I said, no way to contact staff to see if I could borrow one) so if you stay here, bring your own! — We could hear the motorway, so being in the countryside, doesn’t always mean things are quiet! This didn’t really matter after a night of dancing, as we were both exhausted and slept straight away!
