I carnt belive i am admiting this but i went to the Moorings in Sowerby Bridge because i got told there was an hour wait in the local Brewers Faye, I was eating alone and i wanted something easy, informal and quick When i went into the pub i was intrested to see the recent referb which i found to be good and still kept the charater it had before, I order a pint of a guest Ale i didnt know about, it looked quite dirty because of the stains on the glass from the glasswasher and i thought it was going to be terrible however it was very nice. I then sat down and quickly orded a lamb shoulder and a portion of chips at the bar. All the staff were friendly, when my food came i was very impressed on the whole, I do prefer chips without skins on but they were good never the less. The veg was fantastic although the anna potatoes were a tad bland Maybe the lamb could have been more tender but i think that would be picking at straws, overall i was very very satisfied by my meal, service and experience, would recomend

Great pub for drinking but as for the food I think the menus is pretty dull and costly when there is so many other places in Sowerby Bridge which are cheaper

Most nights out in Sowerby Bridge include a few drinks in the Moorings. It is very popular, usually quite full, and a recognised local meeting place. It is a large building, nicely decorated with a good range of drinks. They also serve food, but although I’ve looked at the menu(which was excellent and included several veggie options) I haven’t eaten there so can’t comment. Unusually for Sowerby Bridge, it has a massive car park right outside. It also looks out onto the canal, so on a Summer’s day you can sit and watch the barges go by. A definate one to visit if you’re in the area.

This is an important part of Sowerby Bridge in terms of drinking and must be visited on a session! It’s a traditional pub serving food to a very high standard but be warned it is rather priceyhowever, you get what you pay for.
