The Exchange

We went here for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago. We didn’t book in advance, and it was fairly busy, but not horribly so. We were seated and immediately the waitress asked us if we would like something to drink whilst we looked at the menu. She gave us the wine list and we picked a very nice Cabernet Sauvignon to share.
Soon after, our waitress returned, took our order, and I ordered roast beef, my partner ordered roast lamb. Both plates arrived laden with meat, potatoes and yorkshire pudding — the vegetables were served separately on a side plate, and it’s a good job they were, because they’d never have fitted all that lot on our main plate. Both our meats were succulent, as was the gravy and roasties. The veg was piping hot, which was good as I hate lukewarm veggies.
Overall it was a brilliant Sunday roast, there are very few places I’ve ever been where it’s as good as cooking your own, but this was. Also, the staff were friendly but not too over-​familiar, we were able to have a bit of a laugh with our waitress (Becky I think) and she really made us feel at home.
The only down side was the fact that I think my waistline has expanded considerably due to that meal, but then I never learnt that you can have too much of a good thing!

I havnt eaten in here yet, but what ive seen served up looks good. One thing i like about The Exchange, is the cleanliness of the place and the good quality of the beer. I go there quite a lot and i know my beer. believe me.

This is an old favourite of mine where pub grub is involved. The food is very good here and reasonably priced.
Very nice atmosphere and more for the older generation.
Try their burgers.hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Great pub. Food, great drinks, friendly people behind the bar. Sky and Setanta football on but still not too noisy like other sports pubs. Great food. Can drink on veranda outside in winter or summer.

Usually I’m a bit unsure of pub grub, but I tried some here and it was great, and not too expensive either, there’s always a friendly atmosphere, and the staff are always smiling, which makes the experience even better.
Other entertainment, such as TV is featured, but not too noisy so that it’d disturb a conversation between you and a friend, and the furnishings are comfortable too.

Have eaten and just gone for a drink here. Enjoyed both. Food is good value and delicious, not really for kids though. Drinks great with excellent bar staff. Have also watch live international football. You can watch and enjoy the game, it doesn’t take over the whole place. Worth a visit.

This is a nice, fairly new pub (I think it is only 4 years old).
It’s a more mature crowd i.e. 30 and up so you don’t have to put up with drunken youths on a night out. They don’t have music, but do have screens for the football. Even when the football is on, the crowd is pleasant and there is no animosity.
They also do food, but I’ve never eaten here. Other people’s food has always looked perfectly nice when it passes me by on the way to another table though.
Even though it could be classed as a pub restaurant, I have never taken my children there as it definitely feels like more of a pub than a restaurant.
This is definitely the place to come if you want to drink in a pleasnt, unpretentious venue where you can chat with your friends without having to shout above thumping music.
