I recently visited this pub at the weekend and was impressed with the new interior decoration and general feel of the place. This place is no longer called the Herons Nest but the Kings Arms and has really changed for the better. There are comfy sofas and armchairs, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It would be wise to book if you are thinking of coming here for something to eat, as this place is popular. I once rocked up on a Sunday afternoon, not having booked a table and was told that the food would take an hour and a half to arrive! The pub is located by the Grand Union canal, and the outside seating is popular when the sun is shining. There is ample parking too, but again the car park can get busy at the weekends. A superb place to hang out with family and friends.

I love visiting here at Christmas time and ordering a festive meal, it’s such a great cosy pub that’s full of glowing warmth. I’ve had many birthday meals here too, and the food is just amazing. The duck roast is something that I especially recommend, but for something a bit more exotic, I’d suggest trying the guinea fowl. Okay, the dishes aren’t cheap, but the richness of the meat is absolutely amazing, and well worth the extra pounds. There’s also some truly delicious starters such as prawn cocktail. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever eaten any average food here, it has always been mouthwatering; Compliments to the chef! I want seconds! In the summer, the garden at the back is a great place to grab a refreshing pint, especially when the sun is blaring. The staff here are very welcoming, and go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable, whether you’re sitting inside or in the garden. I don’t think there’s anything bad to be said about this pub, the décor is old fashioned with wooden beams, and the atmosphere, clientele and aesthetics make the whole experience both a relaxed and enjoyable one.

Really great food! The pub has such an interesting and varied menu that I was gutted only to be able to go once during a recent visit to the Knowle area. I will certainly be going back and wish to try more of their lovely dishes! The location of the restaurant is right by the canal, and it would be probably be lovely to dine outside canal-side on a summer’s evening — unfortunately I was there on a February evening so didn’t get the chance to experience this!

Above average pub. An ideal place for a family meal, very friendly service. The food isn’t world beating but it is certainly a cut above the average and there is a huge selection on the menu, something to suit everyone(i recommend the fish and chips!) A very popular pub with families, and service is always good, if you want a reasonable meal for a reasonable price set in a lovely area then this is the place for you.

Large pub on the road out of Knowle, situated right on the canal(on the other side of which is a great animal sanctuary if you fancy exploring afterwards). There’s a big car park which gets very full and is a good indicator of how long you might wait for food, particularly on a sunny summer evening. The pub is a Vintage Inn, which is one of the better chains. The menu is varied, with the usual steak and the like alongside some more unexpected options such as sea bass. Great soups and sandwiches at lunchtime, and unusually some fine fruit juice combinations for the non-drinkers. There are plenty of tables outside by the canal, along with comfortable bench seats that could see you detained for a long time watching the boats chug past, chatting and reading the papers.

Spacious pub located just outside of Knowle with plenty of seating inside and outside next to the canal. You cannot book tables and the pub can get busy at popular times(resulting in a lengthy wait for food although this is advised at the time of ordering). Children are welcome and the food is consistently good with a wide variery of choice.

Popular Vintage Inn pub in attractive canalside location. The pub is reasonably spacious inside and there is plenty more seating outside overlooking the Grand Union canal. Good range of beers available including Bass and Marstons Pedigree on tap. Yes, it is owned by a pub chain but Vintage Inns is one of the better ones. Wide range of food available on the menu — I have found the sea bass, steaks and curries all well cooked/presented and good value for money. The staff have always been friendly and efficient. Note that when busy, you may have to wait some time for the food — best to check to see if there is a delay when you place the order. Car parking is adequate.
