Boo. I was so excited to try Five Guys in the UK for the first time. I’m hoping the lacking flavor and quality are related to this location’s preparation and not indicative of Five Guys in the UK. Five Guys locations I’ve been to in the states are SO MUCH BETTER.
I ordered the veggie sandwich with cheese (no green peppers) and shared a fry with Seth S. The sandwich toppings were sparse and the cheese was not up to par — a little bland. Five Guys quality usually stipulates a heaping helping of toppings that drip off the bun with a delightful mesh of flavors. The lettuce was wilted too, which ruined the textural balance of the sandwich — all mush — no crunch. Fries were sadly undercooked and grainy in texture.
On a positive note, the location is bright and very clean. I like that the soda machine is the same as in the states — any combo of flavors you want and unlimited refills. If you’re going to a ‘Fatties R Us’ place like Five Guys, you’ve got to have free refills.

Unlike the Five Guys in Bullring, this one is not popular. Everytime I walk by, It’s always empty. The staff seem bored and nothng to do. I went in to get a take away and there were four people in the whole place. I felt quite sorry for the workers as they wondered about looking for stuff to do. There were overstaffed.
They ruined my burger patties while making it and manager came up to me and apologised. Had to wait another five minutes. He offered to give me large fries instead which I refused. The normal one is already too much. He was sorry and wanted to offer me something, I said I’ll take a bottle water.
In the end he still gave me large fries even though I refused. I was happy waiting another 5 minutes and understand sometimes things go wrong. Customer service was excellent. Burger was juicy and delicious.

Looks like a fast food restaurant, tastes like a fast food restaurant, but the price is high, and service isn’t that fast.
Don’t get me wrong, the burgers are delicious, but more like Burger King with better toppings than a gourmet burger.
I think it’s incredibly over priced for what is essentially a double whopper with some extra toppings, but it does taste good.
A one in a while treat rather than a regular burger stop in my book.
