Reading all the previous reviews I’m torn where to sit my opinion, on the one hand it is in a great location and personally as a kid it was mesmerising to visit but I have to agree that now I’m a little older I feel the building is by no means being treated and respected as it should. The dayglow colour scheme is funky but in a building like this should be banned and the person implementing the changes shot! Keep the original features and make the most of them I’d bet it would bring in far more trade and at least offer some education on the building to the kids that are getting porky from eating one too many burgers!

Bog standard mcdonalds! Never had any problems there, food service usually quick whether eating in or going through drive through and always hot. Staff are reasonable, you don’t expect excellant service from a fast food establishment but at least here you can expect a smile! Enough seating inside for you to not have a problem finding a table, and generally clean and tidy. Currently being refurbished.

This has a good situation but I find the staff are quite often slow and not customer service orientated. With the new décor as well it feels like it is trying to be something that it isn’t.

This is an excellent location on the main street of Shrewsbury. In fact this building is medieval, and is the oldest building that McDonalds have a restaurant in. The lower ground floor has original stained glass windows and is simialr to a medieval bankqueting hall. The on street level has recently been refurbished to being the restaurant upto modern standards, and has the 60s style bright colurs that are currently Mcdonalds theme. They have improved the restaurant to include toilet facilites for disabled people. The food is generally ok, there can be queues at peak periods, but as this is the only fast food restaurant in Shrewsbury, the queues are one of those things.

A generic McDonalds with the usual sterile enviroment however the downstairs section is kitted out like a medievil banquet hall. still a bit plasticy but gives it a slightly more interesting feel

Is a nice restuarant, although i dont like going in there. A i have a youngest in a push chair i can never find anywhere to sit, and im not willing to fight the stairs to go down. I think they should make the ground level seating area for families and disabled only. Apart from that it is a nice pleasent restaurant.

I bet not many people are in a position to write a review about their local McDonald’s. But I think that McDonald’s Shrewsbury deserves a special mention, and maybe even a visit! The overlooked fact(not obvious from the exterior) is this restaurant is the world’s oldest structure to house a McDonald’s. One of the restaurant’s exterior walls dates back to the thirteenth century and served as part of Shrewsbury’s medieval town wall. This means that when you go down the stairs to the main banquet area, you find huge sandstone walls, wall hangings and suits of armour. You can then crouch in one of the many medieval nooks to eat your Big Mac.
