For a large modern pub primarily aimed at selling BBQ you have to admire their range of quality real ales. None of that national mass produced muck. Good quality service. Varied clientele. Place is buzzing. I like it. Good mix of lively and quite areas. Good mix of large and small tables. Nice long bar.

I must be getting old because the music was too loud and the light was too bright. Annoying big screen too. But, oh, the beer. About 10 to choose from, cracking range. My liquorice stout was just right. In complete contrast to the pub around it, the beer here was very much to my taste. Often live music. No surprise given the Hop concept was formed by a brewer, a drummer and a DJ.

A nice large bar situated in the bustling Devonshire Green quarter. I have only been here on a Tuesday for the pub quiz which is always good fun and has a friendly, local feel. A small supper is provided after the quiz and the winners can indulge themselves in free ale. Nice for a reasonably priced drink and for the ale lovers among us.
