Let me preface this by saying I lived in Mexico for a while, so probably have an above average obsession with Mexican food. With that in mind, Fiesta Mehicana is a nuts and bolts TexMex. The service was friendly and quick, the décor was colourful and country music played in the background. The food we ordered came in large portions but wasn’t anything special. It will fill you up and was spicy enough but it was nothing like as delicious as real Mexican food or even Mexican food I have eaten elsewhere in the UK. Overall a fun, colourful resto with indistinctive food. 3 stars for Mexican connoisseurs, 4 stars if you’re not bothered too much about your guacamole.

One of my favourite restaurants in the town, the Fiesta Mehicana is a bit of an undiscovered gem as its a little too far out of the way for people to come acorss it accidentally. As a result, its always steadily busy, but rarely packed out to the rafters. Its difficult to get Mexican food right — some places underdo the spices and so on, and some pile them on too thick. This place gets it just about right. All the standard Mexican fare is here — enchiladas, burritos, fajitas and so on, and all are actually very reasonably priced. In additon, there are a range of very reasonably priced desserts and a decent range of drinks on offer too. The staff are attentive and helpful, the food is cooked quickly and never less than tasty, and the atmosphere is always spot on. Its not a huge place, and that suits it well. They also offer take out food, which is every bit as good as their in house food and comes in handy if(like me) you live a few minutes away but dont want the restaurant experience. Recommended.
