Why has this pub/restaurant been missed? The four of us arrived for lunch to be met by a friendly young lady who showed us to a table. She took our drinks order while we perused to the more than adequate menu. Good choices and specials for lunch and dinner with the usual two or three courses for £xx. Drinks arrived and orders for food taken, again with a friendly smile. The food was delicious. The pub has an olde worlde feel with oak beams etc etc. Although this was December we could see that, in the Summer, the chance of al fresco dining on their nice patio could be something to go back for. Guys, this place is worth a visit if you are in the area.

Mmmm, whatkind of things make a festive works do with colleagues extra special? An olde worlde country pub? check. REAL beams? check. Roaring fires? check. Horses grazing in paddocks? check. Some of the best grub in ages? Check, check, check. I’ve just returned, stuffed and content, from the Three Horseshoes in Sawbridgeworth. Forgo the crayfish cocktail as a starter, it’s chill temperature made me think it wasn’t long out of the freezer, but indulge fully in the roast pheasant with trimmings, and the fab winter crumble with custard. The wine list is pretty nifty too. Gallons of South African and Wolf Blass to be had. Yum. Recommended for all kinds of reasons, charming, helpful staff included.
