Changed hands a few months ago and the food is amazing! J had the rib-eye steak and it was cooked to perfection and the blue cheese sauce was really subtle. I had the 8oz burger which had a great crust and was still pink in the middle. The burger is made to a house recipe and is highly seasoned and a bit spicy … Yum! I asked for the light option on the menu(no brioche bun and a small salad) and switched the chips for Dauphinois potatoes, which they were happy to do. Both mains were fabulous as was the bratwurst ‘nibble’ we had while we were deciding(only £2) which gorgeous-sounding dish to have. I rarely indulge in the luxury of a cheese plate but did here and was not disappointed. I washed it all down with a soft, fruity Rioja. The service is warm and personable. In short, there is nothing not to like. The prices are good too, for the area, so value for money to boot. We are already planning our next visit.

We found this hotel late at night and they were very accommodating(while other places shooed us away, Wentworth B&B). There was nothing special about the room, except that they had vacancies. The front desk person was very helpful. The English Breakfast was included and very tasty. For £90, it wasn’t bad for my husband, myself and our 9 month daughter.

The place is very scenic and worth a trip for the pond, ducks, and people watching. But the food did not really live up to the description on the menu and we found it salty and otherwise under seasoned. Medium small portions and the beer selection is standard.

This is the best place to stay while visiting Salisbury. It’s a converted mill from the 16th century that has been renovated into a wonderful hotel, pub and restaurant. It is adjacent to a serene, duck-filled lake, and a short walk into Salisbury proper and the cathedral. The room was excellent, with a great view, the pub is a cozy little place with several locals enjoying a pint, and the restaurant, while a bit expensive, is quite competent. Breakfast is included, and not just a buffet, but a sit-down, order-what-you’d-like affair. Definitely going to stay here again next time we’re in Wiltshire.
