We came to Red House by default, due to my favourite café in Croxley being closed for the holidays! I wasn’t in the mood for anything big, so I looked at their lunch deals and ordered their Pulled pork bun with corslaw and chips for £6:95! My mum ordered the senior citizen meal deal, two courses £5:95. She had Cod and Chips and Apple pie and custard for dessert. My meal was good, I would of preferred the corslaw to not have been inside the bun, but just on the side, but I really did like their chunky chips. My mum loved her meal and the cod was was nice crispy. Also the dessert was good as well. I really like the layout of their beer garden, you have the non-smoking and smoking. We sat on the non-smoking, with really nice wooden chairs and tables with artificial grass. Decent pub, with good customer service in lovely residential Croxley!

A few years ago I excitedly drove up to The Red House to watch my boyfriend play a gig with his band. The awful dark lighting, the choice of Stella or Stella, the old fella that sat at the back heckling and the miserable drunk, who tried to start a fight with just about anyone who wasn’t a local made me utter an immortal line; «I’m not setting foot in that dingy hole again» Fast forward a few years. My boyfriend is now my husband. My best friend moves to Croxley Green, closely followed by us. Let’s go to The Red House? Oh hell no lady. She convinces me and she was right. The pub has had a major refurb thanks to the new owners Green King. Its a light bright confortable pub. It’s got a fine selection of ales, lagers, cider and spirits. An ok selection of wine, not brilliant, but it’s not what Green King are about. The food I tried with my parents last week. It was tasty fair. It’s never going to win any gourmet awards, it’s tasty pub grub with an excellent fairly nutritious menu. My dad had a huge fresh battered cod. That was perfectly cooked and delicious. It was served on a chopping board though. That’s just weird and not necessary. I had chicken, thankfully served on a plate. It was ok. My husband had a lovely hot curry from the specials board. I’m liking that The Red House is my new local. It’s exactly half way between our house and our friends house. It’s never going to set the world on fire, but it’s a nice place to be. I like it
