This a a great place and very refreshing to find a local pub to gab a bite durning Boxing Day. The interior is warm and inviting decorated beautifully for Christmas. It’s wonderful to see an establishment that is some thought and care was put into it. That staff were very attentive but I could sense that they may be slightly understaffed but the running a around.
Tonight I enjoyed the pomegranate salad, venison burger with chips and beef brisket with green beans, mashed potatoes, Sea Bass atop salad and mashed potatoes everything was quite lovely though only a few small complaints. The brisket was a bit salty and the chips were a soggy though tasty and the portion of Sea Bass was quite small.
I would like to try more items on the menu when they aren’t so busy. Also they have a great outdoor area with a cabana that looks like fun to lounge around at in the spring/​summer time. I have friends that live around the corner so I’m sure I’ll be back.

The food, the service, the drinks… everything is A-​ok here!

Good solid pub. Gets very full as it is quite a small bar area. Large food area, food is ok nothing special.

Recently reopened. Better looking than before and it’s always been typical ye olde English charming. But trust me, this only gets a 3 because the food IS great. The service is god awful. Laughable in fact. I watched the waitress sit down for over an hour… luckily we were chatting away, my girlfriends and I, but then when we’d finished gassing, we all realised no one had offered dessert, more drinks or the bill. Vexed, we stood at the bar WAITING TO PAY. No one gave a monkeys. I said we should just bail, do a runner and get it for free and honestly think no one would’ve noticed. But one friend is very honest and yelled over at a useless barman who eventually let us pay. Sort it out because my mum wants to come and try the food now you’ve finally got a disabled loo.

This pub has a fine selection of Whisky, but the absolutely awful service faced far to often, has put me off eating here. This means I can’t honestly review the food, which I’m led to believe is ok. The bar is often full, but I think it’s just because there are so few decent bars in Rickmansworth. Not my first port of call by any stretch of the imagination, even though it is very pretty inside.
