Someone told someone that told me that this was the place to go for coffee in Richmond, so I went. I’ve had a latte and a chai latte and both were good. Perfectly fine, and I will likely stop here on the way to or from the train station on a fairly regular basis, I’m sure. However, the staff is weird. I’ve heard them talk openly about how their food and milk(how?) smells old/bad right before they serve more customers, and they always seem seriously preoccupied with their own discussions. Not extraordinary customer service here — just weird.

The first thing that attracted me to Taylor St Baristas was the fabulous rustic décor(as you may have noticed, I’m a sucker for anything shabby chic!). However, the Baristas of Taylor St did not disappoint. We visited around mid-morning, so there was a little bit of a queue. The cashier was pleasant but a little stand-offish, however — because we ordered a filter coffee to go — she made our drinks within a few seconds which meant we didn’t have to wait too long. She could tell we were in a bit of a rush, and for that I was very grateful. After a little bit of background research on Taylor St Baristas; it appears that they feature different roasts from different roasters. I absolutely love that they are not only supporting local coffee companies, but dishing out a variety of flavours instead of sticking to one. This time around, the coffee was from Union Hand Roasted, and had a really nutty/caramel flavour. It really was quite delicious and a perfect pick-me-up for a long tube journey to London’s hub. Really recommend for any coffee fanatics, and I only wish we could have stayed long enough to enjoy a bite to eat!

Located just to the right of the Richmond rail station, Taylor Street serves the best coffee in Richmond, hands down. The sign in front of the shop boasts their«Australian-trained» baristas, and after recently visiting Australia myself, I understand what this really means. At Taylor Street, it means that no matter whether your drink is a long black(americano) or latte, you will get the best quality drink every time. Other coffee shops in Richmond serve passable milk-based coffee drinks, but I would never risk ordering a black coffee from them. Whereas with Taylor Street, I absolutely love their long black coffees. The staff here are super friendly and efficient, so don’t let a long queue put you off… you won’t be waiting too long. Seats can be a bit tough to come by in busy times, but it is a great place to have coffee in if space is available. The only possible issue I have with Taylor Street is that they are not open Sundays, otherwise this place is superb. Make sure to get one of their loyalty cards. Every fourth coffee earns you the fifth free.
