You walk in and immediately feel as if you don’t belong even though you live less than 5 minuets away. They serve food when it suits them or a least did when I last went there(a few years back not bothered since), I booked a table for Mother’s Day was all set picked my mam up got there and said were not cooking today it’s too hot! No apologies and when I said you could have called they said they did but there was no answer, I gave them my mobile number and there were no missed calls and I wrote my number in myself to make sure there were no mistakes. It’s also more expensive than the other pubs in the area were you feel more welcome and don’t claim to do food if they don’t actually serve it. The only redeeming quality about the place is the beer garden but even that seems to be going into disrepair from what I can see driving past. The landlord is also quite controlling like your in his house and not a paying customer at times you feel(or at least i did) like an unwanted or invited child, like it’s always having a private function and your an intruder

The Farmers Arms When someone mentions ‘a village pub’many people visualise A pub with low ceilings and oak beams, a log fire a friendly welcoming landlord, a local clientele and draught beer dispensed by a beer pump. The Farmers Arms at upper church village. Has many if not all of these qualities When |I was there was a fireplace but no fire, no doubt when the weather becomes colder the fire will be lit. There are old fading photographs on the wall of farmers of another age. On Wednesday evenings up to 10 oclock the landlord serves a home made curry which the locals tell me that it is a first rate meal At other times steak can be ordered before 10 pm. The two draught beers are ‘The Reverent James’ brewed by Brains brewery in Cardiff and ‘The black sheep’ brewed in Hereford.(which seems an appropriate name for a beer served in a pub called The Farmers arms.) Both these beers were of a high quality. It is strictly a personal gripe by me as I do not like TV in the bar, except when there is rugby match being shown as it tends to stifle normal conversation People seem mesmerised with the moving pictures’ and will watch whatever is being tansmitted. However the box was turned off by the landlord when I was there. The landlord is an interesting person as he must be one of the few publicans who is teetotal. To summarise the Farmers Arms is just like what you would expect from a pub that name. I like it.
