It was quite a surprise to be the only group of people eating in this pub two weeks before Christmas, whether this is a result of the current economical climate or because of the pubs out of the way setting its hard to tell. I have to admit that the menu was nothing special, just your normal run of the mill pub classics. That said, there was nothing to really complain about. The service was friendly although a little slow(given that they weren’t rushed off their feet!). Friday night was«steak night» meaning that the sirloin steak was £8 instead of the usual £13.25. This a a pretty good bargin as its a descent size piece of meat served with all the trimmings. I asked for it medium rare and would say that it was slightly over cooked but I’ve had worse. Also worth noting is that this pub has a great garden, obviously more relevant if you are visiting in the Summer! It has great views over the South Downs and has a large play area for children.
