Unusual and fun café on the westbound A66 near Penrith. Food and drink is standard café stuff — sandwiches, cakes, scones and it’s very reasonable quality and price. The gift shop is lovely and you can go out the back and look at the animals — they have bunnies, guinea pigs, marmosets, ferrets and(of course) llamas! They also offer llama treks and I love that they have a takeaway called the Deli Llama :-D We always stop there when we’re passing in that direction — the only issue is that the parking is limited and it’s a bit of a quick stop as you just pull into the car park directly from the A66. Same when you’re leaving, you pull out straight onto the A66 and sometimes you have to sit for a while to get a gap in the traffic. But those are small things and it’s a worth a visit if you’re passing.

Very, very quirky, but a GREAT place to call in to for a coffee and food. This is a café, gift shop, B&B and a nature reserve all in one place! Highly recommended stop if travelling on the A66(especially Eastbound, as there’s really not a lot on this road until you get to Mainsgill Farm Shop, 30-odd miles further towards the A1). Well worth a look at also for unusual gifts, as there’s not much like this place in Penrith. Very friendly staff, and very cute Llamas!

Distinctly different, bright and colorful décor, great coffee and a goodly range of hot and cold snack make this a cheery break for breakfast or lunch. Oh and there are llamas!
