Well, this is a pub, but it’s the restaurant I’m reviewing. Wow! We stayed at a bed and breakfast 11 miles away. The proprietor said: we have some good local pubs, but there’s a world class (well, he used some other British phrase that I can’t recall) restaurant in Penrith. So we went. Like I said: wow. Locally sourced meat, game (watch for buckshot) and vegetables. We had rabbit pâté and a tomato «tart» for appetizers, venison and pork loin for mains, fig tart for dessert. Couldn’t be better. And the beer? Out of this world. Nothing like British bitter from the cask.
