Great place, wide range of stock and personal, knowledgeable service. You don’t need to go to a big chain.

Great service. I’m not a regular visitor but they have impressed me only on few visits. I generally go for by bike parts. I’m an amateur DIY bike man and they literary gave me time and best advice for the parts I need. Moreover on one instant they removed the rear cassette for me since I didn’t have proper tool and I was about to buy that expensive tool for just one repair. In the end I just bought the parts. You may find parts bit cheaper at other place or online however at Smith & Low you’ll the find right part without any trouble and you may change if got wrong. Also you should promote your local store.

All sorts of bits and bobs in this alladin’s cave of a hardware shop. Ask at the counter and the staff will scurry off into the back and return with the items your item(and maybe a couple of alternatives if you were a bit vague in your request). Well frequented by tradesmen who know exactly what they’re after, it can be a little intimidating, but the service for the uninitiated is friendly and helpful. Probably best not to ask if they’ve got fork ‘andles.

Smith & Low is a Tardis of a shop in Cowley, it sells everything you could want for those small diy, plumbing, electrical, motoring, bicycyling, you-name-it jobs, and it all comes with helpful advice. Like shops used to be before self-service and superstores came in. OK, they don’t sell the big things or ranges of paints or appliances, but it’s got loads of fittings and diy bits and pieces. It’s well known among tradesmen, but is also good for people like me who need advice before they know what to ask for. It’s a busy shop, and there’s usually a short queue waiting at the counter, but with lots of staff, you aren’t kept waiting. Prices are pretty competitive with the big stores, but even if they weren’t, it’s worth paying a little more because of the extra service Smith & Low provides.
