The beer has improved (and got cheaper) since this place became a Weathspoon’s. The nice old building has survived the change of ownership relatively intact, and it still has cricket on the TVs in the summer. Plenty of seating available in several areas (not really rooms as no doors) but can get very crowded at times.

Now a Weatherspoon but with a twist! It’s REALLY nice inside!
I remember it from years back and have watched it’s decline over the years culminating in the abuse heaped on it by whichever pub chain it was who last owned it– I can’t remember! Anyway they painted it white and there was a huge outcry!
Had lunch there today and it was very pleasant. Good service; my choice was unavailable so they offered me a free drink which was lovely! I didn’t take it bit was nice to have the offer! Many places could learn from this!
So while I would probably avoind it on cricket/​football days, I can highly reccomend it as a place to eat or drink.

The food is good here and arrive quickly. The bar service though is rather slow and the pub is packed on cricket match days. A good pub though.
