I want to say up front: my 4-star review of The Wheelhouse is in no way meant to skew results for this establishment. Being the first review, I am acutely aware that my review sets a tone for any future Unilocalers… and so let me explain what my London-based star system works like up front, before you read on: 1 star: bad job chaps, avoid all costs 2 star: avoid if possible, could have just been a bad experience though 3 star: good experience, probably won’t go back but it’s worth trying 4 star: cheers, I liked it and I wouldn’t be opposed to going back 5 star: best of the best, I’m going to make a repeat appearance if I have my way So from there, I want to lay out a few details of The Wheelhouse that I liked: — great dessert selection… absolutely to die for — large menu with lots of different cuisine options, everyone can find something — big space within the restaurant… can handle parties of all sizes — food is pretty good; in particular the black and blue burger was a nice choice But, while I liked all these things, I got the distinct impression that I was in an American chain restaurant, despite begin squarely in the heart of England. If you’re open to that feeling, and you want a good meal, The Wheelhouse is a great option near Wollaton Hall.
