Great pub kitchen for Sunday lunch or a late brunch mid week — very family friendly and lovely choice of food. Pint /half pint of prawns is always delicious as is the pâté/parfait starter. Yorkshire pudding with every meat, not just beef and meat has always been tender and plentiful. Could sometimes do with more veg although when we’ve asked for more it’s always been provided. Nice enclosed beer garden with football net for the children(bring your own football) Breakfast/brunch dishes are lovely — eggs benedict, yogurts with berries and smoothies — yum yum. Close to Wollaton Park so handy to walk off all that food!

We stopped by here to grab some lunch with no expectation towards the service or quality of the food. The décor in the place was fairly standard for a UK pub, but the toilets were a little different-with the wallpaper with glaring eyes watching your every move, it was interesting if somewhat unsettling. The fixtures and fittings inside the toilets also work to a very high standard. I would have enjoyed seeing some more of this attention to detail make it into other parts of The Wollaton pub and kitchen. After being initially greeted by a waitress and seated well away from other diners we selected food and waited to place order. And waited. And waited… The waitress seemed to disappear to another room and did not materialise for at least another 10 or 15 min. Even when she did, she did not pay us any attention and walked back to the area of the dining room that she had disappeared to. There was another waiter working during this time, but he to seemed very preoccupied, mainly with phone conversations. When we eventually did place order our waiter did not seem to know much about the finer points of the menu(my friend asked if they served crusty white bread to which he said«no» only for us to see him bring out crusty white bread to another diner moments later; we also asked what roasted meats they served and after much debate with the chef he still seemed none the wiser), however, at this point we were just glad to get an order placed. My friend ordered the brie and bacon sandwich which, when it appeared did not have any bacon in it. By all accounts it was tasty enough anyway. I ordered the pork belly which was pretty good, however it had spent way too much time under the hot lamp, leaving one end of the meet resembling beef jerky. Under normal circumstances, we would have complained, but at this point,(due to the ultra-slow service) we were running so late for an appointment that we just paid and left. I would consider the food here to be a 3 ½ star experience, however, the lacklustre service was the real let down.
