«A-OK» just about sums this place up perfectly. The décor is very well done for a gastropub and gives a very elegant vibe. The service and food quality, however, fell very short. I visited on a business dinner. The local beer at the bar was nice, but my experience went downhill from there. I ordered the cured meat board as an appetizer and the sirloin steak with chips for dinner. The board was decent, but I“m not(apparently as I learned at this time) a huge fan of cured meats. The bread, however, was delicious. My main problem came with my main course. I ordered the sirloin, medium rare. Another member of my party ordered the sirloin medium well. Both of our steaks came out cooked above medium well but not quite well done. It was literally difficult to chew, but I wasn’t going to send it back during a business dinner. The chips were pretty plain, but that’s typical of English chips. Overall, the highlights were the beer and the house salad that came with my meal. Its a cool looking establishment and a nice place to have a beer, but you wouldn’t catch me spending my own money there.

We went to Bickley Mill Inn on recommendation and we weren’t disappointed. The waitress was very patient with us as we wanted to move away from the screaming baby. The food was served hot and was very tasty. We had homemade burgers and hand cut chips as well and chicken supreme. While it didn’t look like there was a lot on the plates, it was very filling too. The venue looks the part and I can imagine in the summer it’s a great place to go and have a drink. The menu isn’t too expensive either and if you go between Monday to Thursday before 30th June, all main course are half price. Finding good places to eat in and around Torquay is quite difficult but Bickley Mill Inn has impressed us it give it another visit.

We looked at other reviews which recommended this place. My wife chose King Prawns as a starter, but these were clearly not king prawns. I wasn’t allowed to complain, as she didn’t want any fuss, but these were £7, and not as billed. My smoked salmon was nothing special, and I doubt its locally smoked origin. My haddock was fine. The children enjoyed their fish. I was not impressed when the kids asked for ketchup, and was presented with a bottle of Heinz tomato sauce. Even a Harvester present it in a cup, with a spoon. My wife had the pork fillet, but again it wasn’t special, and she worried at one point if it had been cooked. My bill was just over £84 and I can’t say a tip had been earnt. I think they trade on a reputation, that people will not complain, but if in the area again, we will not return. Looks a very good setting, unfortunately, I think it is an overrated pompous place to eat.

very upmarket expensive restaurant just out of town, just had a lovely charity evening where a lot of money was raised for cancer research. Lovely modern eatery and although it is situated out of town it does bring in a lot of people. Bickley mill also has a small but luxurious hotel that is mainly used for events such as weddings. Modern building and fancy food

Bickley Mill Inn is heavily bedded within the region of Ipplepen and Abbotskerswell, the restaurant is worth the trip if your in the local area, prices can be expensive and you leave with a feeling of not being very fulfilled but i would still recommend this to a passer by.
