Food is very good and the delivery is always on time. The problem is that sandwiches sometimes have the wrong ingredients or are not present in the order at all. Tip: be sure to at least check that the correct number of sandwiches are present immediately. Dene’s is very good about making restitution for incorrect sandwiches though, so I do recommend this place. When you get the sandwich that you order, it is a great sandwich!

Great choice of sandwhiches and fillings. the only problems are it isnt cheap and sometimes its a bit too popular and you have to wait.

Denes Deli is a favourite amongst both locals and students. It offers everyting a great deli should and packs an amazing sandwich, with every filling you could imagine. With fair prices and friendly staff, thisplace is an absolute winner!

I’m not going to lie — I adore Dene’s Deli. I used to live just round the corner but had to move house for this academic year — my goodness am I missing this place! Sandwiches made to order. Ciabatta is 10p extra but you get so much additional filling that in my opinion it is worth it. Try their combinations or make your own. The specials are great too — though some aren’t to my individual taste, I have friends who rate them very highly. The seasonal specials were amazing — goats cheese, rocket, strawberry — I can’t remember what else was on it(possibly onion marmalade) — it is irrelevant though as the sandwich was beautiful. The Christmas special also deserves a mention. I have seen people come in to the shop, order the most boring sandwich in the history of sandwiches — and you know what — it looks dull. It’s like asking Picasso to paint a garage wall white. This is not a place for playing safe. Try something new. Their suggestions are tried and tested by their extensive clientele, and the staff are usually friendly and more than willing to help you in your choice — especially if it’s not too busy in there.(It does get incredibly busy between about 12−2pm) There are so many so-called trendy sandwich places in West Jesmond where I now live. I have tried them. After being consistently spoilt by Dene’s they invariably disappoint. I will always make the effort to walk across Jesmond, because it is more than worth it!

I(very luckily) live a few streets away from this great little sandwich shop. Lovely, friendly staff serve up a massive range of delicious sandwiches. They do traditional choices as well as their own slightly kooky(but delicious) concoctions. Huge range of filling options of great quality, and an added bonus is that many are locally sourced.(Local cheese, meat etc) They also do great little cake slices, made by a local company. The flavours may sound odd but don’t let it put you off! Beetroot and chocolate and Sweet potato madeira are both delicious. Pricing is very reasonable and service is speedy! Highly recommended!

Agree with other reviews. great sarnies from here and if order in before 10.30 and greater than £10(or £15) free local delivery. Only ever issue I have seen is at business meeting someone ordered a platter which was £65 or so and didn’t seem as many sandwiches as you would have got if you had bought them individually

Now this IS a sandwich shop :-) I have driven out of my way to get one from here! Brie and grapes, chicken and mango. Whatever gets your juices flowing! My mouth runs from the minute I get in the door. Why can’t they open more? Oh no, even thinking about the place has made my tummy rumble :-)

This little deli is known as THE best sandwich place in the whole of the city. It’s in Jesmond not far from the Dene, so you have to either live in the area or happen to be walking by but either way it’s definitely worth making your way down there to try one of its many delights. The menu is vast and there are so many choices you might find yourself taking up the best part of your lunch break to decide what you feel like. If nothing on the board takes your fancy, worry not– they can make up anything you ask for in a baguette, toast, poppy seed bun, brown bread, plain white, sunflower seed Avoid it at peak lunch time hours if you can as the queue spills out onto the street! They also sell lots of sweet treats like homemade cakes and flapjacks.
