The Eagle is located inside the departure lounge at Newcastle Airport. It’s behind security, so you can only get to it if you are flying in or out. The hours are posted on the web address given. The food there is quite good, according to my American standards. Perhaps it is a bit expensive, but that’s the airport convenience tax for you. They have various Americana-inspired dishes, including a wide selection of specialty burgers. Fries(chips) don’t come with the meal, so be prepared for that. If you ask for water like I did, make sure that you clarify the type of water you are after. They brought me a fancy glass bottle of mineral water at first, and I was like«uhhh, that’s fancy.» On closer inspection, I noticed that it was«still water,» which is a misleading name. They took it back, unopened, and got me the tap water that I later requested. It was on my tab, but they later removed it. The burger was quite good. I ordered it with bacon and cheese, and it was cooked medium-well. The flavor was quite good. I haven’t had a burger that good in a long while. I would liken it to something from Applebee’s or TGI Fridays. The fries were okay, not the greatest. The would remind you of fries you get from Burger King or Arby’s. Room for improvement on that front, but with enough ketchup, I got them down. They serve dessert(a cheesecake and a brownie), but I didn’t try it. They serve lots of alcohol, including champagne and spirits. They serve breakfast until 11AM. They were quick, I was in and out within an hour. Expect to pay a bit more here, but the quality is pretty high, almost making it a good value but not quite. Solid four stars.
