There are choirs and then there’s Sing in the City — it’s a bit of a life changer, ask most members they will tell you the same thing. Apart from the opportunity to take part in some pretty amazing sell-out shows and events you will make friends for life and without doubt you will have the time of your life :)

Alright — disclaimer, I think I’m turning into a choir junkie. SITCV is the second choir I’ve joined, and it’s vastly different from the first. Both invite non-musical types to join, so there is a similarity there, but where my first choir is a charity, free, and performs on a regular basis; SITCV has one performance every 10 months and there is a fee for each term. Here, it’s a different vibe, but of equal fun — we’ve got four part harmonies going on, and it’s great to feel how much each week my singing is improving — I’ll never be on stage, and likelihood is I’ll never get through one song without making a mistake, but it’s great to hear how much better I’ve become, and the better I get, the more pleasure I get from singing in the first place. It’s a great confidence boost. SITCV also encourages a community feel about it — encouraging members to get involved with Sing in the City activities, including fundraising and activities to boost physical health, and encourages us to mix with the other four choirs across Edinburgh. I think I still have space in my week for a third one though, just maybe?
