The local chapel in Carfin is basically the heart of the village. Carfin is mainly a R. C village, and the religious influence is prominent, with the presence of the Grotto which sits next door to the chapel. It is a large church, with seating for at least 300 people. It is always busy, and the people of Carfin are very loyal to it. I have been in it a good few times over the years for christenings and first communions, and you can tell as soon as you walk in that the chapel is the community. It is the meeting place for most of the residents of the village, and everyone knows each other and are very friendly to newcomers and visitors. The chapel is a nice balance between traditional and modern, and places a huge emphasis on community.
